just curious ... what size clothes did your newborn wear home from the hospital. and, around how many weeks/months did your l/o move up to the next size?

She wore 0-3 months home but it was huge on her lol

Honestly she could have fit premie if she werent so tall. She's still in newborn and i dont see her leaving it anytime soon. Some newborn clothing is longer than others though. Right now we're having issues because she's tiny but looong. Too long for some newborns but too tiny for 0-3 months. She fits NOTHING 0-3 months.

Everyone told me not to buy newborn just 0-3 months because they grow so fast. My daughter SWIMS in 0-3 months. We had to go out when she was just born to get her some newborn clothes because she didn't have enough. I say get one preemie just in case, 1-2 pk of newborn onsies (they still swim on my LO) and a couple of newborn bodysuits to start. You may just have a little one like me that wont fit 0-3 months soon after. Honestly, I don't know when Phoenix will fit 0-3 months. It looks like 3 months on her

my LO was small (6lbs 3oz) and she wore newborn.
0-3 was way too big and preemie size was a little too small on her.

she'll be a month old on sunday and just now her newborn size clothes are getting small on her.

We mostly bought 0-3 for Charlie, with a few newborn things. He was 8lb 9oz and the newborn stuff fit for the first 3 weks, but it's too tight now (5 weeks). That said it depends on the brand - some of the 0-3 stuff is still quite baggy, stuff from other shops is just right. If you know your own birth weight I would use that for guidance as a lot of people seem to have babies a similar size to themselves - but I would buy mostly 0-3 - you know they'll grow into it sooner or later! We were glad we bought some newborn stuff though. But we never needed tiny or preemie for our porker!

Jack fits best in NB now (he's 12 days old and a little over 8lbs.) but I've put him in 0-3M and 3M several times because I only received a few NB outfits and am not willing to go buy more clothing that he'll only wear a few times. I wish I would have received a few more NB sized items.

Mine wore preemie for a few weeks, at least 3, but they were 4lb13oz and 5lb7oz when born. Then preemie were too small, but NBs a little big...SWWWIIIIIMMMING in 0-3. NOW they are in NBs, fitting real well, and only just starting to wear 0-3, with them being a little bit big still, and like a PP said, some things fit different, so some 0-3 are still way too big. They are 2 1/2 months now.

Leah could have wore preemie for abt. a week but I didn't have any so she swam in the NB. She wore NB for abt. a month or more, but she was only 5lb 13oz! She is now in 6mo and she is 8mo if that gives you any idea abt. her size :D

DD was 7lb 8oz at birth. Most NB clothes fit up to 7lb 8oz so she wasn't in them for long. I'd say about 2 weeks at most. I didn't buy that many clothes at all though before she was born (I bought about 6 baby gro's) so I had fun buying lots of clothes after she was born :D

Vivian was 7lbs 1oz and 20 in at birth. She wore NB clothes homeand they were a little big on her. She is just now moving up to 0-3 month clothes. She is able to wear some of the NB clothes, but this will probably be the last week she wears them. I am grabbing a NB outfit and a 0-3 outfit in the mornings. If the NB doesn't fit I put it is a box and put on the 0-3. She is 6 weeks old and about 10lbs.

Definitely preemie/up to 7lbs size here. Newborn were huge for the first month. Isabel could wear Up To 7lbs stuff for 2.5 months and newborn for probably 3.5 months.

She was 6lbs, 9oz and had long arms/legs. She was a skinny thing.

One tip someone gave me - if your baby is looong and skinny (Not Charlie - he's got a tummy lol) but if they get too long for clothes with feet but still fit otherwise (and as long as you don't want to save them for a sibling or pass them on to someone else) - Cut the feet off! I wouldn't do it with nice stuff - but we bought mostly cheap - and I'd do it with those except like I said - Charlie's got a tummy!

My little guy was 8lbs 4oz and 21" long when he was born and wore newborn outfits for the first 3 weeks. He is now 12 weeks old and is in 3-6 month cloths. He is growing so fast I'm not sure how long those are going to last!!! At his 2 month appt. he was over 14lbs and 24" long and I know he has grown sence then. GOOD LUCK with your little one!!! :D
