when you were in the hospital ...

Fourth you ask? Your body is still full of pregnancy hormones as you adjust to life sleep-deprived with your new baby outside your womb.

did you wear the gown they provide the entire time, or did you wear your own comfy clothes?

i'm just trying to decide if i need to pack all of the things i have packed already. i don't want to bring anything i won't use and clothes take up a lot of space!

I thought that I would just stay in their gowns the whole time because I thought that the PP bleeding would be much worse than it was. I had packed some of my comfy clothes and wore them during the day but wore their gowns at night. I still packed too much but was glad that I had done that instead of not bringing anything. Having my own clothes made it much easier to be up and about in the room, especially when visitors were there.

thanks!
i've just been having a hard time finding shirts that are breastfeeding friendly! i figured i might just wear the gown the entire time to allow for easy access but maybe i should just pack some comfy clothes for visiting times!

The hospital had maternity gowns that had holes in the front for easy breastfeeding. I stayed in the hospital gowns for my entire stay. It was pretty comfortable and easy because of the bleeding.

I also found the disposable mesh underwear was very useful. Not cute, but much more practical than wearing my own because they easily got stained.

Do bring socks...although the hospital I stayed at did provide me a pair of new socks just in case I did not bring my own.

I wore the gown during the labor and delivery but after I was allowed to take a shower a few hours later, I put on a pair of sweat pants and a comfy tee. I was much more comfy in my own clothes. :D

I wore the gowns for labor/delivery and the first couple hours but then changed into a tee/comfy pants later that day. I feel too exposed in those gowns. I felt much better in my own clothes.

I was in the gown for the first 2 days buts thats only because I had an emergency c-section and wasnt allowed out of bed for a while...I packed a lot of clothes but only wore half of them. but it was definately nice to have my own clothes

and I would pack some pants and underwear that go well above your bikini line just in case you need a c-section...I assumed I was having a vaginal birth, unfortunately that didnt happen, and I had all low rise sweat pants and bikni underwear and they were really annoying since my incision was right on my bikini line.

I wore the gown for the 1st 1 1/2 days. Then I switched to a comfy flannel gown that I had brought. It was button up, so if I had bf'd it'd be easier...got it at Target pretty cheap. Very comfy! I didn't put on 'real' clothes until the last day to leave in! :D

I wore agown during labor and delivery. After the delivery I was not allowed to get up for 24 hours due to needing an emergency surgery after delivery. Once I was allowed to get up and move around I took a shower and put on my own clothes. I felt so much better in my own clothes.

Out of all the things I packs I only used my toiletries and one outfit. The hospital provided every thingelse I needed. In DD bag I only used the outfit she went home in. I had two bags (mine and DD) full of stuff and I only used about 25% of what I brought with me

With my first I wore the hospital gown the whole time because PP bleeding was pretty heavy and didn't want to stain up my clothes. But I say bring one of your own night gowns just in case your not a heavy bleeder, OH and don't forget to bring your own pads, the hospital ones tend to suck. Always Overnights are great for PP bleeding.

I'm anticipating wanting to be in my own clothes... I've never been in the hospital before, but I'm awfully awkward when it comes to being exposed. Heck, even when I'm sick I'm still fully dressed with make-up and hair done.

But I went out and got a bunch of black clothes in case of heavy PP bleeding. Black sweats, black socks & black granny panties (which were shockingly hard to find!). I'm also bring one nursing gown. I'm not a "gown" kinda person, but ya never know... it's just a cheapie from Walmart.

Ashley -- I've noticed Old Navy has some pretty cute nursing tops on their website. Not a HUGE selection, but they're at least rather fashionable. The other thing that I'm planning on getting is a shrug/wrap type of top to throw on over nursing tanks. That way I look decent but it's easy to nurse.... I hope!

I actually didn't worry about the nursing top thing. I just whipped off my shirt any time I had to BF. I think that shocked my dad and brother, but they got over it. I was wearing a nursing bra or tank so it wasn't like I was totally naked. I think that nursing tanks are a great way to go. Target has them for a good price ($17).

I wore the gown the whole time. I put a nursing bra on the next day.. lol but before then I was topless a lot. My hospital didn't have nursing friendly gowns.. so I had to unhook the sides a lot. :D

I also wore the gown until I could take a shower then it was soooo wonderful to put on my own comfy clothes!! However, I just wore nightshirts NOT my pants at night because you definitly might leak with the PP bleeding!!
