This always happens. Lots of action, then everyone disappears, lol.

I'm around :) Just nothing to say really :P I check this site Daily, but I've become much more of a lurker than anything. I only post in OT really. No new babies makes this site not so awesome for me lol.

I'm back! We just PCS'd so I didn't have internet access until yesterday (a full MONTH!!). I won't be as active as previously, since I spent too much time here before, but will be trying to check in daily from now on!

I'm here. I'm a newbie SAHM.

Actually, I'm not offended by the term "stay at home mom," but I much prefer "full-time mom." I overheard my old boss explaining the reason for my resignation as being "she has decided to become a full-time mom" and I loved the sound of that. Much more accurate. :)

I'm around but trying to not spend as much time online. Only a few more months and I'll be back to work part-time. I was excited but then my boss told me she was giving me a horri ble schedule so now I'm dreading it. Blech.

As a working (outside of the house) mom I was also a full-time mom. I don't think any mom can ever "turn off" being a mom. It's in every fiber of my being. I guess the term "full-time mom" upsets me because I know that working moms wouldn't ever be OK with being labeled part-time moms. I'm not sure that SAHM is a the right term either. For one thing I'm out and about with the kids usually 4 of the 5 days of the week and I'm not solely responsible for the housework. I think there needs to be a better/more current term used for mothers who do not work outside of the home because they are full-time caregivers for their children. Anyone know of or heard of other terms used to describe what we're doing every day?

Yea I can see how the term "full time mom" might offend. I would have hated hearing that when I was working full time. On the other hand however, I really did only feel like a part time mom when I was at work 40+ hours a week   . I honestly felt like I wasn't doing my "mommy" job" It was aweful. Thats why I just HAD to quit. Ug it sucked.

Anyway, I work part time now too, Autumn (only 1 day a week) but I still consider myself a SAHM. I love it. Just the right amount of get away time!! :D

Congratulations Specialkel!! :welcome:

Yes, I see what you mean. I like the term due its literal accuracy, not the emotional aspect. I don't mean to offend working moms (I worked full-time until DD was 11 months old!), but I also have only my own experience/feelings to draw from. I did NOT feel like a "full-time" mom when I was away from DD 10 hours a day, 5 days a week, and literally, I wasn't. I was a full-time employee. While DD was on my mind all day, I wasn't "mothering" her while I was at work. Just my opinion. I would never refer to a working mom a "part-time" mom, though; that is mean & offensive. 8O

Thanks for the congrats, Emmo. :)

I knew that no one was trying to be offensive. No worries :) I also completely understand what it feels like to work full-time and not feel like you're doing your mothering job very well because of it. I was miserable feeling like I wasn't being a good mother, wife or teacher when I was teaching full-time. I just wasn't able to balance all of it and be happy.

I'm here... just keep-on-keeping-on'ing, lol. I feel like I never have much to say in this section because, well, I just do the mom thing. Being a SAHM doesn't make for interesting conversation I guess! :dunno:

I know, there's only so much you can talk about routines, cooking, and saving money before there's nothing left to say, lol.
