STTN Poll

I'm jealous of those whose babies sttn - though not ready to start trying any training yet. Although last night was our best night ever - bed at 7 - one feed at 1am - up at 7.30am! Hopefully a new trend... :luck:

So mostly this is just curiosity - also to see how much difference FF and mixed feeding make as opposed to BF. (It won't make any difference to me - I'm a staunch BFer - that won't change. And I suspect if there is a trend towards FF babies sttn earlier it will come down to routine rather than any "magical" property of formula - but I'm interested to see...) Obviously when I say EBF I'm including solids when they're old enough.

Oh - and I know a 5 hour stretch is technically sttn - but I mean a proper overnight 8 hours!

Please round your answer to the nearest month. Feel free to post any tips for us tired Mammas too :) !!

Deztyni and Caydyn were both formula fed babies and by 2 months they were both sleeping a good 8-10 hour night without waking.
Layla, at one month now, she is sleeping from around 9-10pm till 3-4am, feeding, then sleeping again for another 4-5 hours. She too is formula fed.

My oldest son, slept through the night by 6 weeks and he was formula fed, so did my daughter, also formula fed. Right now Jacob, like the other 2, formula fed sleeps only 3 hour stretches, but on occasion sleeps 6 hour stretches. 9 pm - 3 am.

I EBF....but for the first 6 weeks we did give supplemental bottles of expressed milk...and sometimes formula. I thought the forumula might help him sleep longer...but it really didn't. In fact...it may have given him more gas. He started sleeping a lot better right around the 9 week mark. These days he sleeps 11 to 12 hours most nights (with occasional wakings at 11am or 5am)...but I really never did any "sleep training" per se. I do feel blessed though!

Gabriel is breastfed, and he JUST started STTN in the last two weeks. I tried lots of methods to get him to STTN before this (except CIO and formula) and while some things helped a little, what he really needed was my patience until he learned to do it himself. One night all of a sudden he just started sleeping longer stretches. Last night was his best night yet, with a 10.5 hour stretch, nursed, and then 2 more hours. It was blissful!

My DS1 was formula fed and didn't start to STTN until he was a year old or more .He wanted to eat every 2 hours.Sometimes every 3 hours.I was sooo tired.
My DS2 is BF and a few weeks ago started to sleep 4-5 hours.I actually wake him to eat sometimes  I'm definitely not as tired now as I was with my first LO.Actually now that I think about it my DS1 didnt sleep through the night until he was off of formula at 15 months 8O

Isabel was FF and slept through the night around 4 months. She was sleeping 6 hour stretches between 1-2 months.

Olive is 2 weeks and will sleep 4-5 hours at night then she'll eat and stay awake for awhile then go back to sleep for about 3 hours.

DD was a sleep disaster Waking for one night feeding, but NOT going back to sleep. At all. Like, ever.) until about 4.5 months old. Once she STTN on her own a few times, I started stretching her night feedings as much as I could. SHe ate a TON during the day,and I knew she was capable of STTN, so I felt she was waking from habit as opposed to hunger. By 5 months, I started reducing the amount she was getting in her bottles overnight by two ounces a night, and within two weeks, she was STTN. She was FF and BF until about 3 months, then I switched her completely to FF.

I have the uncanny ability of producing children who do not sleep. I bf'd both kids but both of them hated it so i switched to formula. I pumped for awhile with my first but couldn't with my 2nd.

My first never slept more than 1.5 hours without waking up. At about 5.5-6 months we cold turkey CIO and he was sttn by the third night and has ever since. He does get up at least once quite often but i usually just go in and sing to him a bit and he goes back to sleep.

My 3 month old never sleeps. I thought ds1 was bad. This one is WORSE. Day or night the kid doesn't sleep longer than 20 minutes. I'm going to call the doc soon just to make sure he's okay. It's exhausting!

Wow that is a pretty even spread of results! I don't know what I expected - but it looks like not sstn at 6+ months is pretty normal (I knew it was!) I still envy you guys whose LOs do sttn early though!

Mind you - we've had a couple of good nights...hope I haven't just jinxed it
