Mason has never slept anywhere without me. The only time I didnt sleep in the same place as him was when i had my daughter. He was 28 months old and my mom was here at my house when he woke up. My kids will not sleep away from me until they want to or unless there is some sort of emergency.

infact.. i will not leave my kids with someone who isnt a close friend or family until they can talk enough to tell me what happens while i am away. My parents suggested i hire a teenager to watch the kids if i have stuff to do.. i quicky veto'd that idea.. lol.. i am nuts.. ;)

My DH feels the same way.....he says we will not leave Phillip with a non-family member or close friend until he can talk very well.

I'm with you Staci - I will NOT leave my child with someone other than family or a close friend for even just a few hours, lol. I mean, there are some good babysitters out there but I'm just not comfortable with it :)

Thanks again everyone for your input/stories :)

I can not see myself or DH leaving our children overnight with anyone until they have past the toddler stage.

We only left Lauren once and that is when I was in labor with James. She was 21 months at the time. She stayed with my very good friend and DH picked her up as soon as he could the next morning. I honestly wouldn't leave them with anyone but DH unless I absolutely had to... I am very paranoid when it comes to stuff like that and think of worst case scenario. I haven't even been able to take them to the child care center at the gym! lol!

we're leaving evan with DH's parents overnight for the first time this coming weekend, for one night. we are going to a wedding in boston that we were invited to kind of last-minute and felt we really needed to go (long story) but after we accepted the bride's invitation THEN we found out it was no-kids-allowed AND people are staying in boston and the wedding is in marion which is a town about 1.5 drive south. no way i was dragging my baby all the way to boston to sit in a hotel room with a stranger. DH has family there but they were all busy that weekend. anyway ... so he is staying with grandma & grandpa sunday and monday. we are there pretty much every weekend and they are wonderful with him and really know his "schedule" (such as it is) well. he is very comfortable with them, they've put him to sleep countless times and i don't worry about him not sleeping. and for the most part they are respectful of our decisions regarding our baby.

so i'm not too worried about it ... yet. 8O talk to me this weekend though.

Camryn has stayed overnight twice. Once at 9 months, once at 11 months. BUT, it was with my mom and dad and my mom is the one who watches her all week while I'm at work so I knew Camryn would be comfortable with her. My mom is probably the only one I'd let her stay overnight with....

DH's parents have hinted but I'm not ready for that....
