we stared rice cereal at 5 months, I started with 1/2 tbs of rice cereal to 1oz BM, 8 days later I increased to 1 tbs RC and 1 1/2 oz BM. He loves it and b/c we went so slow no constipation. I'm going to start veggies closer to 6months, fruits to follow.

thanks ladies! This was really so helpful :) I thought I was behind the ball on starting her on solids but I seem to be right on target. She didn't seem ready when I tried a couple of weeks ago but plan on trying again soon, maybe this weekend.

We stated DD right at 4 months. She seemed ready and it helped to minimize her spit up (reflux). DS is 4 months now and I don't feel like he's quite ready yet...so I might give it a couple more weeks if he seems ready then.

I started my boys on cereal at 3 months, they were taking way to much formula and not staying full so the pediatrician recomended a TBS of rice cereal twice a day and then every month I gave them one new fruit or veggie to try. With my baby now she has been on cereal for a month and has had pears, bananas, and sweet potatoes, and shes also had pear juice mixed with water(she was constipated...lol) It looks like I'm the only one so far to do it that early....lol

I started both boys at 4months although ds1 had bad AR and was on cereal at 2months to try and help with that, but I just went by their cues, they would cry anytime we'd eat or cook, and just didn't seem like formula was holding them over
