Postby coastieschick » Sat Apr 16, 2011 11:26 am

DS looks like he's getting his first diaper rash. He has 2 little red dots and one tiny blister, any tips?

Ok thanks. He's never had a rash before so I didn't know if I cold use the cream on it since it has that one blister, hopefully that'll help before it gets bad

We tried Boudreax's and it didn't work on Evie so if it doesn't work for you try desitin rapid relief. Her rash will go away after one change when we use it. And she has sensitve skin so we just use it with every change to prevent a rash.

Just be sure to dab/dry any moisture on your LO's bum (we just use the clean diaper for this) left from wipes, etc. BEFORE applying any diaper cream. Otherwise, you are just trapping the moisture on the skin with the cream and it will make the rash worse.

Could it be wipes that caused it? We switched to new wipes (the only thing that changed) and that's when we noticed it???

DS has a rash that had blisters and it ended up being a yeast infection. We used Desitin rapid relief and it did nothing except smell bad lol!! If it doesn't go away quickly like anxious-annie mentioned I would go to the doc.

No its gone that's why I wondered if it could be wipes. I put some Destin on it AND quit using the wipes since that was the only thing that changed and the blister is just a tiny red dot now...
...but now IDK if the diaper cream cleared it up or if the wipes caused it and I shouldn't use them again????

wipes caused a bad diaper rash in DD so it could definitely be those! We started using Seventh Generation wipes since they are chlorine free and unscented. If I use regular wipes she gets a diaper rash pretty darned fast.

I would reccomend Vitamin A & D ointment or aquaphor ointment, both do wonders.......GL!!!!

I have tried what seems like a million different bum creams and the one that I found to work awesome is called Calmoseptine. I buy it at Target, but it is behind the pharmacy counter, but no prescription needed.

How can we avoid bad diaper rash to irritate children? Which are your best diaper companies?

I have used coconut oil for my DD's diaper rash, it worked well. I have avoided using wipes to prevent irritating the skin further. Babies with diaper rash feel itching sensation and cries while cleaning the diaper area, it creates a lot of discomfort in babies. We need to take care to prevent it like keeping the diaper area clean and dry, washing the area with water and allowing it to dry before you put on fresh diaper and changing it as soon as baby wets it etc. You can find more tips and measures @ http://www.momjunction.com/articles/eff ... _00111177/
