Sitting up

Postby Velity » Sat May 28, 2011 7:28 pm

Gillian can sit up, but chooses not to?
I have never had a kid that chose not to sit at this stage.
She much prefers to lay and roll around.

Anyone else have a kid that refuses to sit?

My LO is 7 months this weekend and he refuses to sit because he keeps wanting to stand up and move.

:hi: Allison!

My LO loves to sit and has for a long time. He was really motivated to try sitting, for some reason. But he never rolls from back to front, even though I know he can :? It's funny how they pick what they want to do and what they don't. I wouldn't worry really about it. As long as you know she is able to do it physically.

My daughter did that. She rolled to get around forever before she learned to crawl, too. She was about 8 months before she could sit totally unsupported. But started talking at 7 months old! And is now a happy little toddler running all over the place, although she also walked fairly late (14 months)...

My DS is the exact opposite. He LOVES sitting and tries to sit up constantly. However he never rolls over, he hasn't even tried. When on his tummy he either screams or falls asleep if the toys get out of his reach. On his back he will play with his toes if he loses the toys. As long as you know she can that is fine. Every child does things in their own time and way.

my son was the exact same. he didn't roll till a little over 7 months and then started crawling.
Both of my kids were early walkers.
Andrew 10 months and Genevieve 9 months.

Gillian doesn't concern me with being delayed at all, the doctors comments about her not wanting to sit up is because she is way to busy moving all over the place.

I just was curious if anyone else's kid is just to much of a busy bee. :D

:hi: Allison :hi: Becca!

I actually have the opposite problem...Catherine likes to sit up, I am assume though that you mean assisted and not unassisted, right? Because Catherine definitely can not sit unassisted yet. But because the boys play so rough, we do kinda keep her seperated from them so she doesn't get that much floor or tummy time. But we are working on that.

Hey Cathy!
I meant unassisted for Gillian.
I have learned she will stay seated for my cell phone and my keys.
Both of my older two loved sitting up.
Gillian likes to be on her belly kicking behind her like she is swimming.
Which doesn't help with the spitting up.

Hey girlie! Good to see you. My eldest was just plain lazy and it took her longer to reach milestones than Harper. Harper is just a go-getter cause she's really interested in keeping up with big Sister! I wouldn't worry either, she'll get there! :)

Hi ladies!!

Erin will not sit either but I think its because, like Cathy, we keep her away from Ethan so she doesn't have a lot of floor time. I wouldn't worry about it, not saying you are, she will start doing it soon!!
