first words

Ok ladies I need help with something. DS started saying ba-ba-ba-ba, I didn't figure it was his "first word" b/c it seemed like babbling, then he started "yeah-yeah-yeah" & "da-da-da" now when he cries he cries "ma-ma" is he talking? I don't want to not write it in his baby book but in my head I figured it'd be more cut & dry like "ba-ba" "yeah" "da-da" "ma-ma" "dog" ya know not just a string of sounds??????

IDK what do you think?

I don't think your LO is talking yet but instead just stringing together babbling sounds. It's a good step though! You'll know when it's a word. :)

I think mama while he's crying could be a word. The random da-da-da and ba-ba-ba not so much, unless he's looking at your hubby or something.

My DD babbled a lot and I didn't count it, because it didn't seem like she associated the word with the meaning fully. One day she was crawling toward the doggy door and looked at DH and said "no no" Needless to say, we looked back and decided to count Momma, which she would say while she cried in her crib, as her first word.
