Colicky 2nd baby?

Postby StephStorm » Tue Oct 11, 2011 4:08 pm

My daughter had severe colic until she was 4 months old. I am currently pregnant w/ baby # 2 and am scared of the thought of dealing w/ colic all over again.

For those of you that had a firstborn that was colicky did your 2nd baby have it too?

Not personal experience. But my boss had two colic babies. He said they had never heard of anyone having two but they did which is why they stopped having kids after the 2nd one. He said it was the worst times of his life. Sorry I couldnt give you a better answer. But I do think its rare that both children would be colic. Hopefully you arent in that rare catagory.

Yes. My son had severe colic (he's 13 now) and my newest DD has it as well.

I had 3 without colic and 1 with. The thing is, his colic I can attribute largely to dairy allergy. I think if I were to have another (being what I know about families and allergies, and the fact that my older kids have eczema and I have asthma) I would do a dairy elimination diet right off the freaking bat!

Cameron (DS1) was a very happy baby. Liam (DS2) was colicky. Not bad just around 7-8 he would start to scream for about an hour or so.

My first was the sweetest, calmest baby ever. Hardly ever cried.

My 2nd was colicky!

So what I'm saying is your 2nd might be completely different than the first. Good luck! I know it is hard when your baby has colic.

My first was terribly colicky for 3 months. It was AWFUL! I was sooo hoping that this baby wouldn't be colicky, and he isn't at all! I'm hoping your newest LO is an easy baby for you. :)

My DD #1 was a feisty, colicky crier. DD #2 was the most easygoing, chill infant ever!
