Baby Carrier

Postby babyluv51 » Thu Oct 27, 2011 6:44 am

I was recommended to get a over the shoulder baby holder but can't seem to find them anywhere. Does anyone know if they've been discountinued and if so have any recs for a side wearing holder for 6-12 month old? I have an ergo and love that, but want something easy to slip on for side carry also?

Not sure about that particular carrier. Do you want something like a Hotsling or Peanut Shell? I have a Baby K'tan that is very easy on and off, and it distributes the weight between both shoulders. A ring sling is also easy on and off and more adjustable than a regular sling.

Try a ring sling. Any brand will work. Try a Maya wrap. I can't remember the brand I liked.

I also used my Peanut Shell for a side/hip carry and that worked well.

Oh yes, check out sleepingbabyproductions.com. She makes beautiful and very affordable ring slings.

I love the double sling carrier which I’ve been using for the past 18 months (ever since DS was an infant). The double sling system distributes weight more evenly across the shoulders and back so I’ve had no back pains! It can be used in 8 positions—whatever you’re comfortable with.

I have a Scootababy and love it! You can also check out Hip Hammocks, which are less comfy but cheaper.

If you like to DIY and are interested in saving money, I made a ring sling super easily by myself for next to nothing! I had a sturdy, neutral color tablecloth that I got for gift and wasn't using, and I ordered size large sling rings from www.slingrings.com I used the Maya wrap isntructions, sort of, but simplified them a little. It's perfect for popping my cranky teething 14 month old in when I am hurrying to cook dinner in the late afternoon! :)

You can do hip carries in a Gemini?
