Is your toddler right or left handed? POLL

Postby Lindsey » Wed Jul 01, 2009 10:14 pm

Just thought it would be interesting to see the results.

We are sure now that Isabel is a lefty. She does pretty much everything with her left hand and if we give her something in her right she always switches it to her left hand pretty quickly. She also kicks with her left foot. I'm not surprised as my brother was left handed and so is my father.

Developmentally they are still neither at this age, but you will find most children have a "fav" hand they use more, and 99% of the time this is the hand they will write with, but don't be surpised if they change a few times through the different ages/stages.

I can't wait to see the results either.

Charli still uses both, but is slowly using her right hand more!

I said right because she mostly uses her right hand to eat with (with a spoon or fork). If we give her the spoon in her left hand she will switch it over.

I said not sure yet, b/c both A&D use both hands pretty regularly. A probably uses her left a little more often, but not enough to call her left-handed yet.

Brayden mostly uses his left, but sometimes his right. I am anxious to find out! :)

Sophie definitely prefers her right hand. I doubt she'll change. My friend's little boy is a definite lefty. He sucks his right thumb and does everything with his left hand.

Lauren uses her left hand about 90% of the time. We have quite a few lefties in the family. :)

Blake's mainly left (started grabbing things at young age with his left & continues most things left handed) but sometimes uses his right.

Drawing, painting, holding toys & all finger foods are left handed but the fork & spoon go in the right.

Callum and Finlay are both still ambidextrous. Although I think Callum is taking a preference for his right hand. Finlay currently uses his left for spoon, etc. Callum really favored his left until more recently, although he still only sucks his left thumb!

victor always used his right hand. Now if we give him something in his left hand he will change hands.
