Sunscreen-- Info and a natural one?

Postby babyhelstrup » Wed Jun 01, 2011 9:51 am

So my dr told me that she saw a new studdy that said that spf 15 covers 92% of the UV spectrum and spf 30 covers 94% anything higher still covers 94%.. So it makes me wonder what is in the "stronger" ones. It is so much thicker. God knows what they put in it.

So on that note.... anyone know a more natural sunscreen? We are using Aveno right now. Granted it is SPF 55 and I guess that is usless.

Yep we use California baby too and love it. We also use their bug spray and its awesome. It is thicker and harder to put on but worth it. I wish they had a spray though!

We usually use California Baby, but recently I tried Kiss My Face brand for kids.....cheaper and all natural ingredients, but I don't like it as well.....it's thinner and the quality isn't the same as CB. In a pinch, I will use Coppertone Waterbabies Pure and Simple.....but only in a pinch because while they do have zinc oxide as the main ingredient, they still have the bad chemicals in it as well. Neutrogena sensitive skin and then the Simply Baby (or something like that) is also good with just zinc and titanium dioxide, but you really have to be careful and read all labels.

it's true, the higher numbered crap is just that...more crap. here's a great link - also a great site to check the toxicity of all your beauty products. California baby is one of the best. This article also has a "hall of shame" as well

We use

Think Baby: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003L5ECK0/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=finfou-20&linkCode=as2&camp=217145&creative=399369&creativeASIN=B003L5ECK0

and love it! You have to make sure you rub it in well otherwise they kiddos can look a bit ghostish, but it covers well. When we went camping and were out in the sun with no shade, we used this and it was perfect!
