My son does this thing (usually when he is tired) where he will go back and forth between two choices until he is having a massive meltdown. Like right now he is screaming about me putting his books back on the shelf, but when I asked him if he wanted me to do it, he said NO. It drives me CRAZY! The only thing I've found to do is just to let him have his meltdown. Is this normal? Does anyone else's kid do this? He gets all manic about it too. It's like, "Yes, No, YES! NO! and then he starts screaming. I try not to let him get overtired, but he usually refuses to nap so, it's hard.
