sleeping too much??

Postby benney » Sat Oct 29, 2011 10:07 am

Before i start this, I'm not complaining I'm sure most people would love this, just concerned.

My ds is 17 mos old, has always slept well since he started sleeping all night at 3 mos. He has always slept 12 hrs and then naps during the day. The norm over the past 6 months is, goes down for bed anywhere between 9 and 10pm and wakes up at 9am. Goes down for a nap at 2pm which lasts between 2-3 hrs. I wasnt really concerned about that. But over the last week he has been going to bed the same time and not waking up till 10:30am or later. I actually woke him up yesterday at 11am. Today my husband is home with him and he slept till 11:30 till he woke him up. And he still takes his 2-3 hr nap every day.

Does anyone think I need to be concerned about this? I plan to ask the doctor at our next visit-his 18mo checkup middle of next month. But kinda concerned about it now. Should we leave him sleep till he wakes up or wake him up earlier.

That IS weird. I wonder if he could be coming down with a cold or something? I wouldn't worry, but be prepared if he does get sick.

Maybe it's a growth spurt?

I would bring it up to be sure. My 11 1/2 month old doesn't sleep NEARLY that long in a day and hasn't for a while. He probably sleeps a total of 13 - 14 hours max.
