Transition to from crib to toddler bed....????

Postby babyhelstrup » Mon Feb 06, 2012 11:18 am

My LO life is turning a little crazy right now. We recently moved and she seems to be getting used to her new home and room. Daycare moved her to a mat for nap time. 2 days into it and she seems to be transitioning very well. Well now at home she gets very mad if I put her in her crib. On Wednesday about 2 am she woke up and would not go back to sleep in her crib so we (me and her) slept on the floor. Same thing happened on Saturday night. On Sunday she did not want to nap in her bed. She wanted to sleep on the floor (and w/ me) but after talking it over she went to sleep on the floor and there was not any troubles. Laid down and went to sleep. And then Sun Evening she would not sleep in her crib. I put a blanket on the floor and her pillow. I laid down with her so she would actualy lay down and relax and then told her I was going to put my PJ’s on and go to mommy’s bed, she said okay and I left and closed the door. She slept until about 1am I was not sure how to get her back to “floor” bed.

We have a crib/ toddler bed so hopefully she will still sleep in her bed once I put a roll bar up (kidco brand)

Suggestions on this transition? How did your transition go. I think I just need to suck it up and do it..

As long as you keep a consistant routine you shouldnt have any problems. My son has been in his "big boy bed" for 3 months now. We really played it up too, we tell him its time for a nap or nite nites and into bed he goes, of course sometimes he gets up and plays for a bit after we close the door but when he gets bored he goes to sleep.

We put the toddler bed in his room but let him sleep in the crib for about a week. We talked up the bed and played on it, and read our nighttime story. Then one night I did our whole routine and put him in the bed instead of the crib. He slept the whole night in it no problem. The next night, he wanted the bed instead, so we told the crib "bye bye" and "gave it to sissy" and it was a tear free transition.

My son loved it, he was just over two when we moved him to his "big boy bed" we went to shops bought it, brought it home, built it took his cot down amd he slept in it that night, so he went from waking in his cot in the morning to going to sleep in his bed that night, he only climbed out five times, and it's gone well ever since.
