Our Jungle/Safari Nursery **UPDATED**

Postby sunray16 » Tue Oct 17, 2006 3:47 am

Ok, I've always wanted to have a safari themed nursery and I've had this rug for a few years. I pulled a couple colors out of the rug to paint on the walls. The walls are yellow with green stripes. But after painting the stripes on the first wall, I can't decide if I like it or not. I think the green might be too "minty" for the warm yellow on the wall.

SUGGESTIONS PLEASE!! :?

While I like the stripe, I think you might be right. The green might be too light.. I would go for a slightly darker green. HTH!

Cute rug! That's going to be a really fun room. I agree about the green - I don't think it's too light, just too minty. Try and find a slightly more yellow-green tone, like the leaves in the palm trees. GL!

The green I selected (not my best choice, obviously! ) was the green around the border of the rug. The more I look at it, the more I don't like it. I'm tempted to just ditch the green altogether and pick either the same yellow in a semigloss finish or a lighter shade of the same yellow for the stripes. What do you think about that?

You're so creative and it's such a great idea -- I hate to say that the colour isn't right! Sorry, but I agree it's too cool and minty. Next to that warm colour and the reds and oranges, it almost looks gray.

I think a light warm yellow would look nice, the one on the wall is very deep, almost like a yellow-orange, that it would match very well. Green on the wall might look a bit too heavy.

I can't wait to see it when it's done!

Thanks blue - I think I agree. I've pretty much decided to go with a lighter shade of the same yellow for the stripes.

Why don't you bring the rug into the paint place and they can color match it perfectly? :)

Keep in mind this is NOT the final setup of the nursery, the cradle is the only piece of furniture we have and it's set up just to surprise our family.

We tried a different green and a different yellow..I didn't like either. We decided to just take all the tape down and just leave the room solid yellow. WELL...we started with the wall we had already painted the stripes on and once we got the tape off, we actually found that we really liked it. I think the BLUE tape was throwing me off. And the yellow isn't as GOLDEN as it looks in the pictures, it's more of a cheerful yellow. ANYWAYS...I'm just really happy with the way it turned out. :)

I think it looks really nice! Bless you for doing stripes - I've painted stripes before in a room and man, between the taping off, painting, removing tape, etc. it was a chore! I like the colors alot together - I think the room will be fantastic when it all comes together!!

Have fun!

Looks great! The ceiling fan is perfect with the jungle theme.

Well, we are slowly starting to make progress on the safari/jungle nursery. I think it's coming together well. Here's my latest project. The stripes aren't as "minty" as they appear in the pictures. And take note of the flowers, butterflies, and dragonflies I used to help make it a little more "girlie". :)
