very cute room!!! how did you cut out the circles so precisely? with an exact-o knife? That's a lot of circles! I take it this will also remain the guest room as well? In any case...once the crib is set up it should really feel like a baby room...but it's so nice that it's a room that he/she can grow into. If it's a girl..a few splashes of pink or if it's a boy then some bright blue might be nice. Overall I love it..especially the homemade mobile!

Michelle...nice to know that I'm not the only one who still has an office where the nursery is going to be. So much to do it's overwhelming! Just hope my little guy is not too early!

i used a bowl, a few different cups and both ends of a shot glass and traced the circles in pencil and used regular scissors to cut them out, put the pencil side of the circle on the taped side so you dont see it :D i think your right about the crib, it still seems like a guest room to me and maybe thats what it is :dunno: makes sense lol

i think the most wonderful thing about this room is that with paint and all the decor in the room i spent maybe $35 ($20 without paint) you cant do much better than that! :D

howd u get such cheap paint?? u only bot a quart? or u already had some paint? cuz so far ive spent like 180 on paint. 2 gallons of primer (one white, one blue) 2 gallons of dark blue paint (cuz its taking so many coats) and a quart of white, black, red, and yellow so i can create all the other colours in my mural.

Elisa I love the bookshelf idea. I think it will feel a lot more like a nursery when you have the crib instead of the bed!

nah u only need primer if it hasnt already been painted or u are drastically changing the colour. ive had to do so many coats of the dark blue on the orginally light yellow wall.

i used walmart brand paint in my kitchen and it was crap. u can take a peice of it and start peeling it off if u wanted to. MIL says its not the paints fault, but some other reason. i think its cuz i used one type of paint on top of a different, certain kind of paint. either way, this time we bot behr. lol

fuel, that is so awesome you've decorated such a cute nursery on such a tiny budget! I'm a thrifty gal and bargain hunter myself. :D

If the wall is already painted you don't need to prime. Just to add to what blondie said another time you want to prime is when you are painting a flat or eggshell sheen over a semi-gloss or gloss. It just helps your top coat adhere better.

yea i understand the paint thing. ive done my whole house in walmart paint and its held up nicely, they have a 10 year warranty too i think (im not sure on the year but i know they guarantee it)

rachel- the bed is staying in the room. with addition to the crib :D this room is way too big that if i took the bed out it would look weird and empty plus this room is upstairs and im sure ill be needing the bed early on to sleep on so im not up and down stairs holding a baby while dead tired (not safe! im a clutz as it is  )

im guessing thats why i feel like something is missing, it does still look like a guest room. ill check out some cute white bookcases and see if i can get it looking super cute :D

i keep updating eith pics as things vhange! thank you ladies for great ideas :D

If you were still thinking about putting a saying on the wall Kohls has a great select of vinyl scrolls, really cheap, and they are precious. We just bought one that says "Somethings the small things take up the must room in our heart". They have a great selection and all you do is rub them on the wall, cant get any eaiser than that.

I love your colors!

You could find 2 little area rugs (baby-ish, or with your colors) to go on top of the carpet somewhere...
What I'm going to do is hang photos of different family members arranged together because my whole side is out of state.

Great job!

Hi,
Sorry for jumping in but I had an idea to help you make your nursery look less like a guest room. It looks lovely by the way!
You could try moving the bed and setting it up more like a seating area. At the moment it's the main feature of the room and is set up with a nightstand the two pillows, sheets folded down ready for guests to slip into and it kind of dominates the room. What about putting it lenthways against the wall and then having some bolsters and cushions arranged like you'd have on a sofa so it looks more like a seating area but can easily be used for sleeping too. Kind of like a chaise or day bed rather that double guest bed. Also maybe take the dark brown off the bed and have only lighter colours, that way your eye won't be drawn to it and all the baby stuff will domintate the room more.
