0-3 clothing...how long were they in it?

Postby elster » Mon Jun 18, 2007 2:51 pm

My baby is due in early August, and most people so far have gotten sundresses and other summery things in size 3-6. If the sizing is accurate, it will be October in New England before she fits them, and there's no way that will work, but I don't want to exchange them all for newborn clothes if most babies outgrow them quickly and she may need the larger sizes while it's still warm. HELP!

FYI - I'm average height (5'6") and DH is 5'10" if that matters. The clothes are Carters (Babies R Us) which may make a difference since I know some companies are more true to size than others.

Bella started wearing the 3-6 carter's stuff when she hit the 2 month mark. Now, she wears the 6 month stuff. She was 6 lbs 6 oz when she was born. Good luck!

We have a lot of carters things, and Moe is still wearing the 0-3 month clothes and she wears cloth diapers! As of today she is 11 lbs 10 oz, dressed and pretty long for her age. She was 6 lbs 7 oz when we brought her home.

My dh is 6 feet 3 inches and I'm 5 feet 5 inches, so I'm not sure if the parents size makes a difference or not, my husband was fairly large as a baby too.

I don't think there is a time limit to take the clothes back, is there? I've never returned so I'm not sure, don't quote me on that! I'd wait to see how large baby is before you start returning, or if there is a time limit, just take take a certain amount of the clothes and keep the others in the 3-6 month size.

Well, my kids are always on the very low end of the chart so they wore 0-3 until at least 4 or 5 months. I suggest that for the summer you buy a bunch of onsies and some stretchy pants for the first couple of months, as most babies do a ton or growing right away, then get the really cute multi outfits for 3-6 months and beyond. The onsies are great because you'll be changing outfits all day long (poop and spit happens) and they are quick to change and cheap. You won't mind so much if they get yucky and you have to throw them out. And you can take the pants off if it gets too hot...

0-3 for 2.5-3 months depending on the brand .. old navy and b. gap are pretty accurate (so far).

Ryan has a carters jacket that is a NB size and he still fits it. He weighs about 12 pounds now. The shirt and pants that came with it just barley fit him. The shirt is tight and the pants are just a bit too short now. I would get smaller sizes.

Carters runs true to size to slightly big. They are shorter through the legs and wider in the tummy. Sundresses arent as big of a deal since they can run big but honestly I would take them back and exchange them for some fall clothes. I highly doubt you will use them.

Makayla's almost 3 months and just got to where she can't wear newborn size anymore. She's been in 0-3s for about 3 weeks and probably won't outgrow them anytime soon.

Kate outgrew 0-3month clothes at about 2-2.5 months old. She is pretty long though and that is the part she outgrew. She was 8lbs 5oz and
21 1/2 inches when she was born. I estimate her to be about 15lbs and 26inches now at just about 4 months.

My boys have always been true to size but if the clothes are the wrong season, I would return them and get credit. Buy as you go.

My baby was a big baby when she was born, and is wearing 3 month clothing already. She is only one month old. I wish I had gotten bigger onesies.

Gabby fit in newborns for about 3 weeks, and 0-3's for a few weeks. i just recently switched her to 3-6's in the past week or so and she's a little over 2 months! they're still a tiny bit big, but they're fitting better every day. :)

it really depends on the brand of clothing too, and like ashley said, they do shrink a bit!

my little guy just turned 14 weeks...and he is still wearing 0-3. In fact - I had wished I had a few more newborn things at the start. He is skinny and long...so his arms are getting too long for a few of the 0-3 and he can fit into some smaller 3-6 month items....they are just usually baggy. You just never know until the little one gets here!

I live in Mass and am due the last week in July...I got the 3-6mth clothing in fall styles.....by october i am wearing long sleeves and i know the baby should be kept warmer so summer clothes for our weather is out.

I got some really cute fall stuff at carters today...so you should exchange them.
