I am going through the exact same thing. It is scary and upsetting, but the specialist that we've been seeing says this is rather common, especially for baby girls. Also, she said she diagnosis about 4 of her patients a day with this! She also said that this is the WEAKEST link to downs! She told us this mean DH and I have a 1 in 1,000 chance of having a baby with downs, which is really slim! Good luck to all of you, I am sure everything will be okay! I am just trying to think positive!

Hi everybody, just wanted to second what JTSummers said. I was in a panic through most of my pregnancy because I found out at 20 weeks that DD had dilation in both kidneys. In her case, it resolved, and she is just fine, but the Dr.s assured me that she would have been fine, it is relatively common, and it often occurs in girls. I received so much help and support from this thread that I'll always be grateful.

Congrats on the great update and the beautiful, healthy little girl!
The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow, For children grow up, as I've learned to my sorrow. So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep. I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.

Hi! That is great news about the hydronephosis disappearing! WOW!!!

I just wanted to add also, that my son had severe hydronephrosis on one side. His kidney ended up to be non functional at birth. He had the nonfunctioning kidney removed at 5 months of age. He is doing wonderfully with just one kidney.. Expected to have a "normal" life!!!

Good to hear from the rest of you ladies!
