Fetal-maternal hemorrhage/Fetal anemia (xposted)

Has anyone had a fetal-maternal hemorrhage, or dealt with fetal anemia?

I went to L/D delivery 2 weeks ago as I noticed a decrease in baby's movements. An ultrasound revealed that my baby was severely anemic (her RBC was 18, normal is 180). Since then, I have had 2 fetal blood transfusions. The doctors felt it was caused by either parvovirus (5th disease), or a fetal maternal hemorrhage. The Bk test for FMH came back negative, and here in Canada we had to wait 2 weeks for the parvo test results. Yesterday the parvo test came back negative.

I am attending one of the best neonatal hospitals in NAmerica, and all of the specialists are stumped. They presented our case yesterday to a team of international specialists, and they are stumped too. They have no idea what has caused the anemia, and are now revisiting a possible false-negative on the BK test for fetal-maternal hemorrhage. There are also some crazy-rare blood enzyme disorders, but none of them seem to fit the symptoms.

The great news is, that baby is growing well, chromosonal screening was negative for problems, and the transfusions seem to have cured her anemia.

Anyone have experience with FMH or Fetal Anemia that could shed light on what would cause a perfectly healthy baby to suddendly develop such severe anemia?
