bad quad screen

Postby jamela163 » Sat Aug 06, 2011 6:03 pm

Hello ladies,

I'm a wreck right now and just wanted to get some input on these quad screens for down syndrome... I'm 20 weeks along, almost 32 yrs old w/ baby #1. We just got the news Thurs. from the OB that my quad came back as a 1;240 high risk ratio for downs. They set up a genetic consult and level 2 u/s (possibly amnio if I request it as well), but the earliest appt I can get is 2 WEEKS AWAY! I havent been able to eat, sleep, or function since getting this news 3 mornings ago and can't seem to get any additional info from the doc office. Has anyone else had experience with this issue? I just moved to PA from NYC and a specialist from home (NYC) whom i called today said it was disgusting theyre making me wait so long for an appt since I'm so far along already... I'm almost considering making 8 hour roundtrip to the NY dr. so stress & worry doesnt kill my baby.... Any advice appreciated:)

Hi,

I know this posting was a little while ago, I am wondering what you found out and if you have been to the specialist yet? I am 17 weeks and got the same news this morning, I am also a wreck. I have to wait for refferal to go through and then wait for Doc to call me to set up appointment because I am military and need to go off base. However, I have heard that MANY women get these results and babies turn out just fine
I really hope you have gotten some answers to ease your mind!

hey!.. 1:240 is actually ok.. we had 1/42 and still no chromosomal issues.. (it ended up 1:2)

our daughter had hydrops.. but I am assuming there are no physical markers on the ultrsound?.. have the visualised a nasal bone? (most downs babies dont have a visual nasal bone in the 2nd tri)

did youhave a nuchal scan?

higher bloods is (usully) a false indicator, I have sene it manymany times.,.

good luck, xxx

Honestly that isn't bad at all. I don't think it's much worse than average for 32...

my first had a 1:77 chance of spina bifida.
Those tests have very high false positives.
relax.
you would love your baby regardless.
