Bed Rest?

Postby Lauren1980 » Tue Jan 10, 2012 11:56 am

Anyone else on bed rest? Hospital bed rest? I've been in the hospital for a month now (with the possibility of an additional three months) and am SUPER bored! I'm learning how to crochet, but at this point, I think our baby has about 500 hats in all sizes between NB and the high school LOL! Anyone have any ideas on what to do? Free crochet patterns for beginners?

Thanks!

Sorry to hear that, it must be super hard! I am sure you get board I would suggest some good on line games, read a few books out load to baby, maybe write a book!

Wish I had more ideas and I hope the time passes quickly for you.
Why are you on bed rest?

At 23 weeks, my cervix shortened to 2.2 cm, so they sent me to the hospital for observation. The next day, it was down to 0.2 cm. So, I'm on bed rest for the duration (I'm now 28 weeks 2 days). My cervix has since lengthened to 1 cm; however, that is nowhere near long enough for them to send me home. It would have to go up to 3.5 cm and stay there for three weeks...so basically I'm here until I deliver, no matter what at this point. It seems like it's been forever and just a few days at the same time. If I were to compare it to something, it would be like one REALLLLLLY long day. For awhile it was absolutely unbearable...now it's just annoying LOL! I have learned how to crochet and in the last two weeks, I've made a few scarves and about a million hats (or actually, 21). I have more hats than I'll ever need, and one for every size between birth and high school ROFL!

I was on bed rest for just 1 week for PROM at 31 weeks, labor started after exactly a week and she was born at 32 weeks (happy to say she is fine and is now 7 years old) I was losing my mind after just 1 week so I can only imagine, like you they said as long as baby was healthy they would keep me until my due date. I bought some needlepoint, but never got to them, watched a lot of bad TV (there was no wireless internet in the hospital at that time) and read a lot of novels. Good luck to you!

My granny said that when you are pregnant, you should have a proper exercise (Remember light exercise) for first 3 to 4 months and after that more lighter exercise. It helps you to give a normal delivery...

Not if you have ruptured membranes or premature labor. I agree exercise is good for a pregnant Mommy, but not in all cases.

I've been in the hospital with my daughter for three weeks now. She is having a bone marrow transplant. I have an iPad which is fabulous for wasting time! I've been researching nutrition and meal planning like crazy :) find something to learn or work on.
