Lovenox mamas - question

Sat Jan 05, 2013 2:23 pm

I'm on 60 mg twice a day. this was my dosage for my last two kids and it just seems high. My other OB had me on 40 mg once a day after my miscarriage. Anywho my question is, with my other kids there was no generic form of lovenox. This time there is. Ive been given the generic because that is what the insurance company wants (obviously you all know the high cost of lovenox) I was wondering if anyone has switched from brand name to generic and noticed it hurts a LOT more when giving the injections and afterwards? It seems like a larger needle maybe... I also get a lot more bruising at the injection site from the generic. Should i ask the dr or is this just something i should deal with? its only a few more weeks. Im switching to heparin at 36 weeks.

I never switched to the generic because my insurance covered them at the same co-pay for me, so why switch right :)
But several ladies on a forum I used to frequent, lovely Lovenox ladies, did switch to generic right when it first came out & I remember they all said it hurt worse because the needle was thicker.

My insurance just recently changed and they only cover generic. My dr says they are the same. My dr has me on 40mg 2xs a day.. :D
