sc_ttc, I didn't even realize you were so close too! Good luck with everything!

So, we started potty training today! I tried couple times before to put Nick on the potty chair but he'd just totally refuse. But he's been taking his diapers off lately and even though I use cloth most of the time, he has learnt to undo snaps this week as well, so I figured it's time! I took the training seat off of the potty chair, put it on the toilet seat and sat him down on it. First he didn't like it, then I gave him daddy's magazine ... and then he didn't want to come down! ... no pee ... no poo ... but it was a fun practice run :). We're just gonna keep on trying since he's now willing to sit on the toilet! I don't expect him to be night time potty trained for awhile, especially since he drinks about 12-20oz jut before bed time (won't fall asleep without it) but during the day would be nice! ... will keep you posted!

Hi girls!

I had my first OB appointment yesterday. I thought my betas had been high, but he said he thought they were just fine. But then he felt my stomach, and he said my uterus is really big! 8O

He said usually that means I'm further along than we thought, but he couldn't find a heartbeat yet with the doppler, so that (plus the fact that I was charting and know EXACTLY when everything happened) rules that out.

Which leaves only two options.. either I'm just built that way,and it means nothing, or there's more than one in there! I'm praying it's not the latter!!

I have an u/s scheduled in 2 weeks to find out!

In a way, yes, it would be cool... in every OTHER way, not so cool!!!

Two of my cousins have twins, and they just weren't the same after having them. It was very hard on them. For one of them, it ruined her marriage because she was just never happy after that.

I do have one friend, though, who has twins and seems to be doing ok with them. She said she doesn't know why she wanted twins so badly before she got pregnant, and that it's a LOT of work (and a lot of staying home) but she does seem ok. I guess we'll see! What's done is done.

rleash - I will vouch and say that having twins has been such a wonderful experience. My marriage with Melissa has gotten stronger and I absolutely love my family. After almost 8 months of having them, I'm still not sleeping through the night....but I couldn't be happier! So.....do know that having twins isn't always a bad thing.

I hope you get what you want....whatever that may be!

Our little Evan was born Aug. 2nd, 8:06 a.m. 8 lbs. 1 oz. 19 1/2 inches. It was a scheduled c-section. We are both doing well! This time, knowing it was a scheduled c-section, was a much better experience! Aside from normal c-section pain, all is well. This time around, I had no problmes giving him formula, I will try to breastfeed at home.

Hello ladies!

Just checking in :) Congrats sc_ttc! Glad all went well & you have a healthy little guy.

rleash: Any news on the twins front? I was terrified last time & this time that I'd be pg with twins. Twins aren't for everyone, but you deal with the cards your dealt. Just double the love, right? :)

I'm 28wks this Friday. Can't believe I'm in the third tri & just how fast time has flown. I'll be meeting my own little man in 12 weeks, because I will be having a schedule c-section, due to take place at 39 weeks, so around October 22nd or 23rd. 3 months left to organize, buy what we need, get prepared...it seems daunting. I've lost 22lbs so far this pregnancy, maybe more [I have a doc appt. today] & my family doc was a little concerned, so I had another u/s yesterday, but baby is measuring dead on & he weighs 2lbs 5oz. My OB, however, was not at all concerned about the weight loss & I'm happy with it as long as baby is healthy, hehe.

Oliver's birthday is tomorrow...2! I can't believe it! His party is this Saturday & I'm excited. I'm really baffled that I have a kiddo turning 2 & another one with only a few months left to bake in my belly.

Happy Birthday to all August babies! We're planning a little party for the 21st. Couple friends with their little ones coming over for a fun play date.

Now to more serious stuff ... any of your babes being late talkers? I'm getting pretty concerned about Nick having a speech delay. He has less than 10 words he says clearly and the rest is all gibberish. He tries to repeat but it sounds nothing like what I'm telling him. ... like when he wants to say "juice" ... he says "tk" ... and things like that. It might be related to all his ear infections he's had in the last 6 months. He'll be seeing a specialist in October and possibly might need tubes put in his ears to help with the fluid. I caved in today and called a local office that does Early Intervention Evaluations on kids under 3 so I can get their opinion on this. We have it scheduled for the 17th ... I want to have it over with so I know what's going on :(

Sorry I didn't update you ladies sooner, but we had our u/s and there's only 1 in there! Big PHEW!

Robyn, thank you for the lovely post. Had it been twins, what you said would have been very comforting!

Baby's healthy, measuring right on for a due date of Feb 24th! I have a regular OB appointment tomorrow, but I'm sure it will be pretty uneventful. Now I have to wait another 6-8 weeks to find out the gender.. I can't wait!!! Everyone thinks it's going to be a girl. At first I didn't care, but I'm starting to get more and more attached to the idea of having a girl this time. So here's hoping for team pink!

MK, I hope everything goes well at your appointment. Noah has always had an awesome vocabulary, although some words are perfect and some are completely different than what they should be (he can say "Mommy" very clearly, so I know he can make an 'm' sound, but "milk" comes out like "beh"). My mother-in-law always told me about how DH's brother couldn't talk clearly at all until kindergarten. She was the only one who could understand him, and was going to enroll him in a special program. But his kindergarten teacher told her not to worry about it, and in a matter of a few weeks he was talking beautifully (and turned out to be a pretty smart kid..even earning a full college scholarship). So she's always told me not to worry.. kids all just develop differently. I'm sure the experts will let you know what's going on, though.

Noah had a great bday party this weekend. We got him a water table, and he LOVES it! If any of you haven't gotten your LOs their birthday present yet, I would highly recommend one! :)

Happy birthday to all the August babies!

HI girls

We're doing ok. We have had the freakiest wkend tho with a major 7.1 earthquake and about 30+ aftershocks.
The boys are very unsettled ( as are Miles & I) but we're ok. At least we have power and water now and can use the toilet. Lots of people are not so lucky and their homes are destroyed etc.
The magnitude was the same as the Haiti earth quake but as our infrastructure is so much better and we have a much lesser population - the impact hasn't been so devasting.

On a good note, Finnegan is growing so quickly... last weight gain he was just short of 9lbs. His due date was yesterday.
Liam is coping ok, he adores him but still needs to be more gentle.

Hope you are all well.

Catherine - Glad you guys are all okay. Hope the aftershocks stop soon. I can't even imagine having to go through an earthquake or any other natural disaster, really.

I can't believe how big Finn has gotten! He's beautiful, mama. Congratulations again! :)

AFM; We're freezing here in Northern Ontario. It went from +40C to being under a frost warning (+3C) tonight. Taea's growing like a weed and is at her terrible two's stage in full force. It's just been her and I lately since J has been busy with a new restaurant opening in the city. He's the kitchen manager and designed the menu so it's been pretty hectic for him and us at home without him. We're hoping that once it opens, things will settle down or at least been more consistant.
