YAY Ashley! So happy for you, that's so exciting!!! What a beautiful sound :D

The blood test I'm having done is Panorama. The real purpose is to check for down syndrome, cystic fybrosis, spinal muscular atrophy, and several chromosomal diseases... finding out the baby's sex is a fun bonus!

Wow, I did NOT know you could find out the baby's sex from bloodwork. That's awesome!

Ashley, I am really happy you found the little heartbeat. I know that is so reassuring!!!

As for maternity clothes, I am not wearing any yet. I think I've finally outgrown most all of my pants, so dresses are working well for me at the moment. I really don't care for pants anyway, so I'm loving wearing a dress everyday!

Thanks everyone!

Cara- now that you mention it, we had the option of doing extra testing for those things too, but declined. If I had known I might find out the sex, I might have reconsidered :) but we'll find out around 20 weeks at our body scan/gender reveal ultrasound. Seems so long to wait!!!

I just looked it up and it looks like Panorama and Maternit21 are very similar. Here is a comparison in case any one is interested.

i am having it done for the same reasons as you Cara and also I am Advanced maternal age now, so it is good to have them done.

Thanks for the information about the tests, ladies. I haven't been offered any of the tests but I haven't actually had an apt. with my doctor yet (just a nurse intake apt.) so that could be why. Does insurance cover the cost of the test or is it out of pocket? They look quite pricey!

Oh ashley I'm so happy you found the heartbeat :) what a glorious sound! It makes my dr appt on Aug 26 seem so far away!

Those blood tests sound amazing! To be able to have that screening done without the risk of amino or cvs. Medicine is truly amazing! I'm not sure if our dreams will recommend screening or not. We are both 29 with no family histories of high risk so I am leaning towards no. Plus, I'm not sure what I would do with the information if there was something that showed up.

Ugh, still plagued by constipation and soooo tired! Thank goodness its Friday :)

I opted out of any testing - it wouldn't change anything for me if there were something wrong with the baby, so I'd rather not know. I just PRAY everyday that this baby is healthy and growing properly and I just have to trust that it is. :praying:

I had a very mild nausea day yesterday but I am totally making up for it today. I have thrown up several times this morning. No fun, but as always, grateful for the symptoms.

On a good note, though, I have not been constipated the last few days. :jump: Everything seems to be working just fine in the tummy department - I credit it to all the water I'm drinking and whole grains. I pray it stays this way! Nothing worse than bathroom troubles!!

Mel, glad to hear your tummy is better even if your nausea is worse. You seem to be such a trooper through the vomiting! I really admire your strong positive attitude, you always impress me :D

So yes, the Panorama test is pretty expensive. The retail cost is $2000, but our insurance will cover 85% leaving us with just a few hundred to cover. To us, the test was worth it because my husband's half brother has very serious brain and developmental issues (actually we are his legal guardians now since my mother-in-law passed in June, so we're becoming increasingly aware of his medical needs). Even though my brother-in-law's issues are believed to be caused due to environmental factors during pregnancy/birth, there is a very small chance that our baby might have complications, so we are doing all possible tests for peace of mind.

Mel, I agree, if we found out there was an issue with the baby it wouldn't change a thing. But finding out sooner than later would at least give us time to prepare emotionally and financially.

So I went for the bloodwork this morning and they took TEN VILES! Holy cow! In about two weeks we should get results... praying, praying, praying for the "all clear"! And of course we're getting excited to learn the baby's sex!

Sorry for the lengthy post but wanted to share the info in case anyone was wondering or looking into it! HAPPY WEEKEND, LADIES! :D

Wow, that's so exciting cara! I was hoping to get that maternit21 test but apparently being 34 is not the same as 35 and I don't "qualify". I actually turn 34 in September...but still. It's wild they can know so soon! I'm so jealous!!! I'm planning on bankin on the nub theory from my nt scan in a couple of weeks!! The doctor never changed my due date so it's technically 2/27 still but I know I ovulated late and I thought it should be 3/3 but baby was measuring at due date 3/1. They don't change it unless its more than a week off. So to them I'm like 10.5 weeks! I hope the nt scan is done at
The right time!!!

I'm happy to be alive today, realizing how precious life is after my wasp attack yesterday. I'm still so sore and itchy but thankfully suffered no lasting consequences. I think I counted 15 stings. At least 40
We're swarming me and landing on me. It was literally terrifying. Phew!

Thanks, Cara - that is so sweet of you to say! Nausea is much better now that the morning has passed, but it typically returns in the evening before bed. I usually try to hit the sheets and go to sleep so I don't know about it. LOL

Also, I am so sorry to hear about your brother-in-law. That is so sad...I am glad that he has someone like you and your husband to care for his needs now. I also hope that you and your husband are doing okay after the loss of his mother. That is so hard, I know. I remember praying for you right after it happened.

I can't believe they took TEN viles of blood! It's a wonder you didn't pass out! When will you have the results back? I'm dying to know what you're having.

Cookie, so happy you survived that horrible ordeal with the wasps. I would have been so scared!

Cookie oh my goodness!!! What a crazy story and thank goodness you are ok! I know insect attacks are no joke, a young man at my church actually died from a bee attack last year. I'm so glad you are alright! That is incredibly scary.

Thanks for the info about the test Cara! And I'm so sorry that your brother in law has to deal with that :( I hope you get good news with the tests. Sounds like you will :)

Wow Cookie! I'm glad you're ok! I would've been SO freaked out! I hate flying bugs of any kind, but especially the ones that can harm you like wasps. Yikes!

Ok, so tomorrow is the big day that we tell our parents that we're expecting. Last night I decorated some mugs. The two pics are a front and back view. We'll give them to them when they ask for something to drink with dinner. Hopefully they'll get the hint :) (And sorry if the pics are huge- I'm doing this on my phone)
