The Obsessing (and Waiting) Continues!

Postby Ryansmom » Thu Dec 12, 2013 5:19 am

Hey ladies!! I wanted to create this buddy group to keep in touch/keep track of all the pregos I became friends with on the TTC side :-) I have friends in 4 different due date clubs and it is so hard to keep track of everyone, so I am hoping we can all update each other here and continue our friendships this way!

AFM, I am 7w3d today. My appointment on Tuesday went well. Baby was measuring 6w6d (2 days behind, but not a concern to the dr) and had a nice strong heartbeat of 143bpm. I have been thoroughly & utterly exhausted, having crazy weird dreams, and am gassy/bloated as all get out. It kind of sucks going through the thick of the 1st trimester during the holidays, but I am plowing through and just taking life one day at a time :-) I can't wait for some relief in the 2nd trimester (and know I will be able to relax more once I get there). My next dr appt is 1/7 and my next scan is 1/17, which feels like forever form now, but hopefully the holidays will make the time pass quickly :-)

How are you ladies feeling? Can't wait for some updates from my TWW friends!

Hi Elysia,

I wasn't very active on the ttc side, but definitely read some of your posts. I'm about a week ahead of you so was hoping I could join your group. I'm finding it helpful to hear from women in similar situations :)

The bloat and gas are a killer these days. I get full on "belly aches" and have been struggling to button up my jeans... Already! Thankfully my ms is limited to moments of queasiness, but not too hard to manage so far.

Elysia!!

You found me in the April club :o)

For those of you who don't know me, I'm Sam and am currently 22+4 with a special heart baby. We found out at the 20 week scan that there was something wrong with Nuggets heart and got the formal diagnosis of Tetralogy Of Fallot 3 days later. Still coming to terms with what this ultimately means for our little one but feeling much more positive now. We know it's something that's treatable but baby will need monitoring for life due to the likelyhood of valve replacement surgery in the teenage years.
The only concern we have now is that there is an association with ToF and a chromosomal defect called 22q11 deletion syndrome. We wont know for sure if Nugget has this until they're born. It's very much wait and see.

On the positive side, baby is a little Ninja, kicking all the time, flips and somersaults which is so so comforting. Feeling him every day makes me so happy.

We are now awaiting more appointments with specialist cardiologists and fetal medical teams to monitor how nugget is developing so that we can all be prepared for when he arrives as well as my antinatal appointments. It's going to be a busy 16 weeks until we're induced... (Not the lovely serene homebirth with water that we'd hoped for, but as long as this baby arrives safely that's all that matters.

Just thought I'd post a link to a short video which shows a bit better what ToF is.

It's easier than me trying to explain the difficulties our little one has.

Yay Elysia! I love this idea! Glad you were able to find me and your other friends!

Howdy Sam! I think you and I messaged some on the TTC side as well. I'm Gina and am 19 weeks 2 days today. We will be having our 20 week u/s next Fri so I'm looking forward to that but trying to prepare myself for the possibility that we may receive similar news. We are not expecting anything, as I'm sure you weren't, but you never know so I am reminding myself every day that God is looking out for our little nugget and He will bless us with a child He feels will enrich our lives and who we can love beyond measure. I know that God has your nugget protected too and will lead you to all the right resources and give you strength to give your child an amazing home. I know you can't wait to meet your baby and vice versa. Do you know what you're having? Do you have a name(s)?

We will not be finding out the sex next week. If it's a boy he will be Samuel Arthur and if it's a girl she will be Amelia Anne.
I do hope you both are having a very awesome week and looking forward to the upcoming weekend!! :)

Hi Gina, I do remember chatting a while back. Good to see you here.

I'm trusting that my baby will be ok, but it has taken a while to come to terms with.

I hope that your scan goes well and that you have a perfect little bub in there.

We don't know what were having and hope to keep it that way until baby is here. I was ok with not finding out at the 20 week scan as there wouldn't have been the possibility of finding out after that, but now we will have to have regular scans and I still get the odd pang of wanting to know, but deep down I want the surprise. We will have to have an induction by 38 weeks so finding out the sex of baby is the only surprise we have left now. There aren't many people here that are team green...
We have a girl name picked but are struggling on a boy. I think DH and I do know what it will be if it's a boy, but he has some slight reservations as he knows someone with the same name. Will just have to wait and see closer to the time.
DH and I are keeping the names top secret, not even our mothers know them, but I don't see why I can't share with you guys...

For a girl we have picked out Annabelle Rae and for a boy we're considering Oscar Raymond. The middle names are to honour DH father who passed away when DH was only 3 weeks old. We've still got the best part of 15 weeks to make a final decision...

I imagine it's hard to wrap your head around your little nug's condition, I think even more so because it's not common so you have to learn about the condition and figure out what you need to do to get ready for your baby. For something like this too...you really don't know 100% of what you're facing until s/he makes their debuet into the world. I pray that you can find peace and encouragement between now and then.
Please know that we are here for you to cry to, get angry to, find hope with, and share how you're feeling anytime.

YAY!!!! Another team green!!!!! So we can give each other strength to not find out between now and then. From my understanding your OB knows so if you really can't wait then you could always ask him/her, but I hope you won't. It will be fun for both of us to share the surprise after our baby's birthday. ;)
I like your names a lot. They are very classic but orignal enough that your children won't be in class with a bunch of kids with the same name. I feel totally honored that you shared them with us.
I love how we have our own super secret society here where we can share stuff that the rest of the world doesn't get to know.

Is everyone ready for 2014? Heck, is everyone ready for the holidays?

Hi Ryansmom and a few other names I recognise from the tww :)

You and I are due around the same time! I have my first midwife appointment on the 18th, still not had any type of bloodtest or scans or anything so not sure what it will entail yet. I was hoping I might get to hear a heartbeat but I don't know how they will do that as it is a home appointment. So confusing! Nice to see some familiar faces though.

AFM - nausea 24/7. At least the cramps have pretty much gone! Now I have itchy bbs though. I was looking at home fetal dopplers. Not sure whether to get one or not, I would love to hear baby heartbeat, but some say they cant be heard on those til 12 weeks at least, others say they heard theirs at 6.5 weeks. I want to hear it and it makes me worried that I have to wait so long before I can find out if it's alive in there or not. Driving me crazy not knowing :(

Ryansmom - how are you doing? Hope you don't mind if I join you over here.

Sam32 - I've been thinking about getting a Doppler as well. I've heard some good things about the sonoline ones. It seems to be a concinsous I've gotten that the heart beat is most commonly heard around 8 to 10 weeks by doppler but I think it depends on babies positioning and other things. I'm hoping if you get one it will help ease your mind and not make you worry more.

s4mm - I can't imagine how hard it must be to come to terms with something like that. Hoping all goes well for you the rest of your pregnancy.

Turtlemomma - is it hard going team green?

AFM - Finally got the results back from my U/S it put me at 6 weeks 2 days so I'm 7 weeks 2 days today since it was done a week ago. Was also told the results stated I should have another u/s in a week. Am waiting on a call back this afternoon to find out if my primary will be ordering it again or if the ob I've been trying to get in to see will be doing it this time.

DH and i bought a doppler for peace of mind as I had troubles with spotting in the first few weeks due to cervical erosion. It really helped put our mind at ease that the baby was ok in there.

Since the 20 week scan it's also come in handy as I used it to check in on baby when I got worried after not feeling or noticing any movement for a few hours.

It's honestly the best thing we did, but I am a worrier.

My only advice would be that it can be difficult to find the heartbeat at first as there are so many different sounds going on in there and baby is still very small (and the heart even smaller!!) so try not to panic if you can't find it straight away. Give it an hour or so and then try again. I wouldn't want it to cause more stress than necessary because you can't find it.
Also remember that this early the baby is still really low inside your pelvis, so you may have to press really low down on your stomach to find anything. A full bladder helps with this.

Hi ladies!!

I met Ryansmom over in the TWW. It's nice to meet you all and share in your stories. Were all in this together :)

I have the same EDD as you redneck! So far so good. The regular discomforts of bloating gas, nausea, and overall "Blech" feeling. Nothing too terrible. Still exercising 4-5 times a week (crossfit) and that's been keeping the symptoms manageable.

Thinking about doing the team green thing... Originally planned to find out and then recently changed my mind :). Names are: William (the third) and Quinn Lena for a girl. I also like Ivy for a girl so were still discussing...

Looking forward to this journey with you all!!

Hi everyone!

Lol ktee, I misread and thought you said "queen Lena". :)

Glad to hear most of you are doing well. I feel as though I've started to adjust to the weird symptoms (exhaustion, gas, bloating, constipation, mild queasiness) and this week I was mostly just feeling gross and uncomfortable. I don't dare complain, as I'm thrilled- but many nights I was just plain annoyed and wishing I could feel like myself again. Anyone else feel that way? Just shy of nine weeks, but the way.

Like I said, I'll take it. It's worth all the suffering. But, well, ya know... A girl's gotta complain a little ;)

Happy weekend!!

I am with you girl! I feel so weird and uncomfortable in my own skin! I am so happy we are blessed with this beautiful baby! But it's still weird when your body is changing all over the place and you don't look the slightest bit pregnant. None of my clothes fit RIGHT. Many fit... Just not right... I didn't expect so many changes this early. And my boobs are ENORMOUS! Working out is getting tough because none of my sports bras or pants fit! One girl on another blog wrote "my regular pants are too tight, a size up is too big. And maternity doesn't fit yet. So I cry. ". I literally laughed out loud when I read that. That is me exactly.

Again I am ECSTATIC for this little peanut. Just gonna take some getting used to in becoming an incubator!

Ktee - congrats and I can't wait to hear about your upcoming appts.

SherBears - my symptoms are similar to yours and I agree it is very uncomfortable at times.

AFM - I have a new symptom today I think. All day I've had an odd metallicy taste in my mouth. No matter what I drink it tastes nasty. I've tried mints, hard candies, drinking water, etc. And nothing's helping. Im thinking about taking out my tongue ring and labret piercings but they aren't easy to take out. Ugh and I don't know if it would help anyways. Any suggestions?
