Anyone else having pain in their rib cage? It literally feels like the couple ribs directly under my right breast are bruised or broken. It started last night in the middle of the night and has continued all day long today. It hurts :( I must have slept funny? Idk. I know it's to early for the baby to be using my rib cage as a kick boxing bag so it's not from that. Ugh.

On a happier note...it's gender day tomorrow! My us is at 9 25 central time, will update you all as soon as possible tomorrow morning!

Lauren: Can't wait to find out your baby's gender! So excited for you.

Just a quick update to let you guys know what's up with me right now. I'm managing my fear about cervical incompetence a little better, as even if my cervical operation has increased my chances for it, it's still statistically low. I'm rather angry after calling the hospital and finding out they're actually checking my cervix even later than I thought. Here I thought they were doing it with my anomaly scan at 20+4, but it will actually be at/after 24 weeks. Considering my fear was of my cervix opening before 24 weeks, at this stage, I'm just gonna have to just cross my fingers and hope it's fine... And if I start really panicking, there's always the option of getting a private scan done...

The thing that has made me forget a bit about the cervical worries is that since Saturday morning I have been suffering with extreme low blood pressure. I have low blood pressure naturally, but I didn't know that pregnancy can lower blood pressure, especially midway through it (so right around now). It is so bad that I have to be lying down permanently with my legs up, even sitting up I feel like fainting and shaking all over. When I called the day assessment unit at the hospital I was told nothing can be done about it, that it should pass, and in the meantime to try not to faint as that's the main danger to the baby...

After researching online I found people suggesting either upping salt intake or drinking coffee. I tried to have more salt and felt maybe some small improvement today as I did go out and walk for a little bit before I had to go home and get horizontal again...

I'm trying to see my GP tomorrow and hoping something can be done to improve my state. I am freaking out about working in this state, thankfully I only have to go in Thursday and Friday this week and DH is off work for the week (yay for school holidays) so he can accompany me on the train so I don't go alone.

Sorry I haven't caught up with all you guys' updates, and I hope all of you are feeling well. If any of you have any experience of extreme low blood pressure, please let me know if you have any advice. I'm pretty desperate right now.

Alpaca, my best friend had this with her last pregnancy and she was actually high risk bc of it and other things as well. She said the same yhing, that the biggest risk is fainting and falling down. She was actually put on bed rest for the second half of her pregnancy as well. I sometimes have low blood pressure as well and I know that weak dizzy light headed feeling you're talking about :( no fun. I've found when I have a light headed episode the best thing is to just lay down for a while and maybe have a small snack and drink lots of fluids. I hope things start getting better for you.

no shady, no gall bladder issues that I'm aware of anyways. My dh just had his removed bc of stones this past March. This doesn't feel that deep though, it feels like my actual ribs or maybe the muscles right underneath them. And it's not the type of pain that dh described with gallbladder problems.

Lauren, I think it must be something inside of us shifting during the pregnancy or something like that because I had that same feeling you're talking about just about the entire first tri with this one.. Every now and then it comes back but in the first tri it was weeks of feeling like I has bruised ribs...well more like exactly what u said, underneath my ribs. the best way I would describe it would be that some sort of soft tissue feels bruised and like it's pressing against my ribs like my ribcage isn't big enough. I never did ask about it, just figured it's growing pains and left it at that.

Alpaca, I was wondering about you yesterday! Glad you are OK, not so glad you're having such a rough go with your drs & body through your pregnancy :( I really hope it all starts evening out as you progress and your body has time to adjust a bit..

alpaca- hmmm i suffer from the opposite, genetics my doctor says because I'm not overweight or have any other underlying illnesses, but she did tell me about low BP. I have heard caffeine can help with it as well, i drink at least two cups of tea a day, i need my caffeine i just can't help it. And with tea i only get 120 mg of it which is way under the 200 mg limit in pregnant women. Try tea maybe?

lauren- I had that! I think it was end of august for like a week and when i told my doctor, she took my BP and it was high. Said that caused it and pain under your ribs can be a sign of pre-ecclampsie IF your BP is high at the time. Luckily it went away for me and i'm in the clear again. If you have normal BP its probably nothing to be majorly concerned about....can't wait for you to find out!!!

Quick check in ladies, I'm waiting to see my ob right now after my scan. Just wanted to tell you all its a BOY!!!!! The tech said 100 percent sure. I can't even describe how I'm feeling right now. I'm soooo excited to tell my dh, he was supposed to come with but couldn't at the last minute as he had to go see his own doctor about something else. Eeeeek! I'm on cloud 9.

Alpaca: I’m sorry that your cervical worries are still present… or ever-present, but I’m even more sorry that it’s been eclipsed by this crazy low blood pressure. I’ve read that in the second trimester that your blood pressure reaches its lowest point, so maybe that’s making it worse. I’m glad that the salt seemed to improve it just a bit. Maybe compression stockings might help a bit? Fingers crossed that your GP thinks of something that can be done.

Lauren: The only reason why I ask about the gallbladder problems is that mine started off as a general pulled-muscle feeling before it got really crappy, but it probably is just stretching or your diaphragm rebelling. I’ve been having this really weird lung tightness, kinda like when you go swimming for too long and it hurts to breathe in deeply. I wonder if it’s related. Cannot wait for your update!

Lauren - yay for a BOY!!! You must be over the moon! How amazing! Congrats!!! Hope the appointment with the OB goes well! And hope the ribs pain gets better, it does sound a little worrying.

Thanks for the empathy guys, although I didn't manage to get an appointment today I'm feeling a little better and have been able to go out a bit, and even just did a job application, and I've only felt like fainting a couple times so far! Progress!

Nicole - Yea I might try tea; I usually drink decaf tea because I'm a wimp caffeine wise, but I figure I might as well try, if it gets me through work without fainting it's worth it! I just hope it doesn't affect my sleep too much, I've had bad insomnia since I was little, hence my usual avoidance of caffeine.

LD - Yea I think you're probably right that I'm going through some sort of adjusment period. Maybe the sudden growth of my uterus and other changes in blood circulation, hormones, etc, is causing this stuff. I'm just so annoyed because I had quite a lot of energy until last weekend, I was running around like a lunatic and almost felt like I wasn't pregnant at all...

So, I need a bit of advice about solutions for my baby's sleeping arrangements in our bedroom (so let's say for the first 6 months). We're really struggling as our bedroom is pretty tiny (we live in a 2 bedroom flat, the lounge is nicely sized but the 2 bedrooms are way small). We bought a crib on Ebay, it was super cheap (£10! so like $16), but we didn't check measurements, and it turns out we might not be able to fit it in. Here it is:
http://www.mothercare.com/Mothercare-Swinging-Crib---White/477115,default,pd.html
It's a little too wide basically.

So I've been doing some research and found these alternatives:
the snuzpod:
http://www.thelittlegreensheep.co.uk/the-little-green-sheep/snuzpod-3-in-1-bedside-crib-natural.aspx?gclid=CjwKEAjwoMKiBRDHwoaQ0dzn0UwSJAAUk5JiabbPGQy0pUGpI5oLzN51ncg9XFXf0t-O4ySTHFHbExoCKwfw_wcB
Bloom Alma mini crib:
http://www.johnlewis.com/bloom-alma-mini-crib-set/p214663
Chicco bedside crib:
http://www.mothercare.com/Chicco-Next-2-Me-Bedside-Crib---Dove-Grey/593765,default,pd.html

DH is freaking out about the cost of all these options because he says it's ridiculous because they will only be used for 6 months, but at the same time, I don't know what else to do. We can't use a moses basket, A) because I don't like them aesthetically, B) because with our dogs I want something that will be high enough and protected enough. They're small dogs sure, but still.

What do you guys think?

I had my anatomy scan this morning. Everything is looking good and baby is measuring a little ahead of schedule (by O day, I am 19+3 today, and baby was measuring 19+6 - 20+3 depending on the structures measured). He was lying head down, back facing front, and refused to move at all (even after poling), so the u/s took more than 30min to get all the needed anatomy pics (she was having a hard time getting the right angles on the heart and head). Saw a LOT of bone structures. Had to roll onto my side to get the potty shot, but we confirmed that it is definitely a boy (as a scientist, I needed to make sure that phenotype matched genotype. LOL). Finally got a profile view at the very end, but it was a bit fuzzy b/c he obviously didn't want to cooperate. Looks like I might have a stubborn, difficult child (kind of like me. LOL). Hubs took the CD, so I'll upload pics later tonight.

Haven't gained any weight since last visit, so I'm still ~8lbs up from pre-pregnancy. My appetite dropped off a bit last week, so I haven't been eating as much for the past week or so, which is definitely helping with the bloating situation. Maybe in another week or two I'll have a belly that looks like a baby bump rather than just a soft, bloated mess.

Because of my age and the presence of fibroids in my uterus, I'll get u/s at almost every visit from here on out. Next appt is in 4 weeks...

Lauren--congrats on baby boy. I think my hubs was proud to see that little pecker in there today. LOL Hope you got good pics to show to your hubs. :)

Lauren- ahhhhh a little boy how cute! Congrats! how exciting!

Rolo- yayyy definitely a boy. I'm measuring early as well actually, according to my doctor. Maybe that means our babies will come early, i would love that haha. How are you feeling now that you know for sure its a boy?

Alpaca- I know what you mean with two bedroom flat and NO ROOM , we are in one now. I had to move a whole bunch of stuff out of our room for new baby's things and am still worried it may not be enough room. Have you thought about those moses baskets that clip to the side of your bed? I've seen them but don't know much about them.
