How long do you plan to wait before TTC #2? {X-Posted}

Postby Twinklebug » Thu Apr 15, 2010 8:59 am

I posted this in the pregnant after IF board as well, but wanted to see what yoiu multiples mommies thought too...

Dh and I were blessed to just have twins from our first IVF, so we are not at all ready to have anymore right now. But we have 3 frozen embies and are planning to do another cylce at some point. I'd like the babies to be less than two years apart, but just looking for some opinions on this one.

DH and I may just not prevent starting when the twins are about 6 months, but I'm not counting on conceiving naturally since we tried for 18 months for #1.

So my ? is: If you plan to try for another baby via IVF, how long to you plan on waiting? Any moms whoe were able to conceive #2 using frozen embies? How long did you wait before doing FET?

i didn't not do IVF but as far as the TTC again we are not sure if we are going to have another. I would LOVE to be pregnant again and DH is unsure.

But as far as the spacing if we had only gotten 1 then we would have wanted them to be close together within 2 years like you. But now that the girls are older, 15 months, i cannot imagine having another or TTC again quite yet. Now that the girls are older they, i imagine trying to deal with a newborn and twin toddlers is a little overwhelming for me yet. I can't imagine it right now, maybe once they are a little older and are more independent but right now they still require alot of attention, so i will be waiting a bit longer.

I am going to wait a year and to be honest with you want one more but am not sure how another IVF cycle is going to fit into my schedule with the girls and work. Soooo, I am going to play it by ear.

Dh and I are actually thinking about adoption too so that would be a option instead of doing another IVF cycle (I had no snow babies) and at least then we could have a boy for sure. But either way, whether I adopt or do another IVF cycle I will wait about a year I think!

Hey, maybe I'll get pregnant again on my own this time around?!

We had our first son (DW carried via IUI) and I did a fresh IVF 5 months later which didn't take. So, I switched clinics and ended up doing a FET (we thawed 4 and 2 of the 4 made it to a 5 day transfer) in March - so when we got pregnant, Grifyn was 8 months old.

We really want another but don't think that we will try again until the twins are about to go to school. We also talk about adoption too though....

OH - also! I have a friend who was trying for a very long time to get pregnant (2 years on their own, 3 IUI's and and and IVF) and they though that they would never conceive naturally....2 months after their baby was born (via IVF) they got pregnant naturally. 8O

Egray: over on Twinstuff there are several stories of that happening. It doesn't always, but pregnancy does have a way of resetting our bodies...

You never know and it could happen.....

My personal experience has been that a child at three years is so much more independent than at 2 years, and the stress level for the momma between age 2 and age 3 is very different. So, I'd say at least 2 years or three years apart.

Of course, every Mom is different and it depends on your age and eagerness to defrost those snow babies, but every month that DD is older is easier on me, even just her physical ability to dress herself, pee on the potty by herself, express herself, play independently, all those things make it easier to be pregnant at least, and I hope take care of a newborn too.
