First Trimester Screening/Nuchal Translucency?

Postby jen78 » Mon May 23, 2011 4:30 pm

Should I get this test done? I know it tests for Downs and some other things, but are there a lot of false positives with this test like there is with the Quad test? I really just want to get it done so I can get an extra us. It is covered by my insurance so I figured why not.

I don't think I got one, but if you want the extra Ultrasound and don't care about the testing then you could go for it. My doc told me not to get one because he said unless the outcome would change my mind about the pregnancy (if positive) then why do the testing.

I never finished the bloodwork part of the testing given all the false positives. I did the first bloodwork part, had the U/S and declined the 2nd part of the testing. I loved the extra look at my babies! In fact, the tech guessed correctly at almost 14 weeks boy/girl :D

We also declined but our doctor went ahead and did the ultrasound portion and measurements for us. We did it around 13 weeks and we were able to tell that Schaefer was a boy at that ultrasound!

Now that I think about it, we did do the ultrasound for it. I just never did the bloodwork - much like the previous posters ;)

I never did the bloodwork either....because like Greek said, the results (good or bad) wouldn't have changed anything about keeping the pregnancy or not...so I didn't worry with it.
