Twins - Morning sickness come and go normal?

Hi ladies,

I am a new mom to be and so excited about it. I am currently 8w2d. I heard heartbeats at 6 weeks (early ultrasound as I did IVF and they wanted to make sure it wasn't ecptopic).

At about 7 weeks I started getting all day morning sickness. No vomitting but aversion to food, gagging, hard time eating etc. Over the past couple of days the morning sickness has come and gone. My only other symtom is tender nipples and I toss and turn all night. I am just wondering if it's normal for the sickness to come and go. I have read that symptoms dissapearing can be a bad thing. I don't have another ultrasound until 12 weeks so I am just nervous and want to know that everything is okay!

Same thing happened to me! I think it depended a lot on how much water I drank and what I ate. I didn't have m/s with my previous singleton pregnancies (or if I did, it was very mild) so this time around it made sense that it was worse but not full-blown. I think as long as you are still feeling pregnant (tired, tender boobs, etc) you're good! It's hard to wish for stronger symptoms when you want to feel ok but I understand where you're coming from. The reassurance is nice even if it means you feel icky. Congratulations on IVF twinks! :D

Kricket - thanks for the advise. I know that no advice is going to change what actually happens but it helps to put my mind at ease.

I did read that after you hear hearbeats that the chance of miscarriage goes down immensely but so long between appointments make a girl worry a bit. I just need to make it through this first trimester and I will start feeling a little better. But honestly could time go any slower?! lol

Congrats to you as well! You're on the home stretch!

My morning sickness would come and go also, I know it wasn't every day. Having had two pregnancies and a bunch of miscarriages under my (now super-sized) belt, when I knew I was having a miscarriage was when all my symptoms disappeared at once, ie. sore breasts, constantly being tired, having to pee all the time etc. Like Kristen said, my morning sickness would come and go based on how much I had eaten or drank - worse when I let my stomach get empty.

Congrats on your two new little beans! :D :D

I was only nauseous when I hadn't eaten, so mine came and went all the time. And I think I spent the entire first tri grabbing my boobs to see if they hurt and half the time they did and half the time they didn't. Try not to worry too much about the coming and going symptoms. Congratulations!!!!

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I definitely remember having days where my symptoms would ease and being torn between enjoying the relief and worrying that the babies weren't okay But - all was well in the end! Like Robyn, my nausea would get worse if I let myself get too hungry - though it also got bad when I ate. :/ I had the same thing though - all day nausea but never actually got sick. It went away around 12 weeks I think. Good luck to you!

Mine sort of came and went until around 10 weeks when it started getting worse and I had to get on zofran until around 18 weeks. Forget the first trimester, I spent the whole pregnancy paranoid one or both babies wouldn't make it. The first tri I was always grabbing my boobs, and then once I started feeling the girls move I'd start poking my belly trying to get them to move to make sure they were OK. The time between u/s is torture!

Congrats on your pregnancy!

^^It's so true! Even at the end, the week between NSTs would be torture!

Thanks for all the advice. SO far the sickness comes and goes all day everyday! And I completly HATE the wait between U/S. My first one was at 6 weeks and my next one isn't until 12 weeks (and i've already told a bunch of people we are having 2 as we heard heartbeats) so I will feel much more content when I see the next ultrasound to ensure that they are both in there growing and staying healthy. The two week countdown is on!
