Hey Ladies!!!

Thank you so much for your kind words! You are all so right- Two Miracles are incredible... such a blessing! I feel like we all have been double blessed! My husband and I were so shocked & so happy! It doesn't really run in either of our families... so it was a shocker.. I can't wait!

Kricket, Hazelbazel, shelly babyluv 51- Congrats on all your pregnancies... anything I should expect? Do symptoms tend to calm down in the 2nd trimester? I have to say, mine aren't that bad.... some days worse then others... but nothing to complain about! Also- are your babies fraternal or identical? and when did you find out?

Bakkermommy, babydust, buggie, meggola- Congrats Twin Mommies!!! so were the twins your first pregnancy? any advice you can give me and any other expectant momma of twins??? Also, fraternal or identical? And also, when did you find that out?

Thanks again ladies- so happy to be able to share such an exciting time with all you wonderful ladies!!!! We are truly blessed with two mircales! :D :D :D

Congrats!! What kind of twins do you have? I think I'm the one that's closest to your gestation since I'm still early 2nd tri.

Expect that things can change dramatically at any time, especially the end of the second tri and into the third. Expect to have very exaggerated symptoms and understand this is normal! Expect to drink more water and focus more on your diet than ever before (around 100oz of water a day and lots of protein, calcium, iron and folic acid!). Expect to have many ultrasounds, appointments and all kinds of other stuff thrown your way! Expect to hear all kinds of different/interesting/weird responses from people when they find out you're having twins. Expect to buy stock in TP because you'll be peeing like it's your part time job. Then I imagine we can expect the first year after they're born to be the hardest but most rewarding time of our lives :)

I found out very early, 4dp6dt (10 DPO) that I was pregnant and then it was confirmed twins at 5w2d when we saw two itty bitty gestational sacs. We did IVF so I had tons of early ultrasounds and pictures of them from super early on. Still feels like yesterday that we found out!

Because we transferred two embryos, we know 99% sure we're having fraternal twins.

Looking forward to following along with you on your journey!

Kristen did a great job explaining twin pregnancy. I'd like to add to expect to get big fast. My twins were my only pregnancy and I was already in maternity clothes by 8 weeks. By 12 weeks, strangers could tell I was pregnant. And people get super excited about twins. Toward the end of my pregnancy I started lying to strangers when they asked what I was having and when I was due so I didn't have to have the twin talk with them. Twin pregnancy is HARD. Don't ever compare yourself to a woman pregnant with a singleton because there's no comparison.

As for fraternal/identical, it's harder to say. Were your twins in 2 separate sacs? If they were in the same sac, then they're definitely identical. Separate sacs, you won't know for sure right away. If you find out they're a boy and a girl, you'll know for sure they're fraternal. If they're the same sex, you won't know until they're born whether they're fraternal or not. (Robin has a great sticky about the different types of twins you should check out). I suspected my whole pregnancy mine were fraternal since I did IUI and I knew I had 2 mature follies at trigger. When they were born it was pretty obvious they were definitely fraternal.

As for the first year with twins, I'm almost there (already?) and it's hard work. The first 6 months were probably the hardest. Things started to get a lot easier around then though. Now, they're crawling everywhere and they're a lot of fun. It's still a lot of work but nothing like taking care of newborn twins.

Congrats on your twin pregnancy!!

I have a set of identical twin boys and a set of g/b twins (and a singleton in the middle)

Are your twins in separate sacs?

Ours are fraternal, though technically I guess if they're same sex you can never really know 100% without a DNA test. We transferred two embryos and got two boys. We found out they were twins at 5w4d, found out they were boys at 17 weeks.

Pregnancy advice... drink more water than you ever imagined, you'll be crazy unbelievably exhausted so take it EASY as often as you can.

And one to think about... Make sure there is a NICU where you will give birth if possible. Not all twins need the NICU (many here haven't!) but there is also a possibility that you'll need it and no one wants to have their babies shipped off to some other hospital right after they're born and before mom can travel with them. This one is important to me as I picked my doc based on where they deliver and made sure that hospital had an awesome NICU. And thank goodness I did as my dudes were born 11 weeks early!
