It was amazing! The babies were all over the place. I just kept watching. It was so awesome to see them so active. I think up until this point it hadn't really sunk in that there are two in there. I need to get some twin mom books.

It is pretty neat to see them moving around in there huh? I'm glad you had a great scan!

As for books, I liked "When you're expecting twins, triplets or quads" by Barbara Luke.

I too liked the Barbara Luke book. Another book I'd recommend is Mothering Multiples by Karen Kerkhoff Gromada.

Congrats on a great u/s! They're so much fun, and you get to have so many! By the end they'll be so squished in there that you'll barely be able to make out recognizable body parts, let alone know which baby you're looking at. it's amazing.

Yes - get the Barbara Luke book! I lived by that book throughout my pregnancy. I also liked Double Duty, and now I've discovered a sleep training book just for twins by Dr. Weissbluth - Healthy Sleep Habits, Healthy Twins. I was not so crazy about Mothering Multiple (the BF book for multiples by LLI). I had so many issues with BF and found it to be really condescending and judgemental.

Congratulations!! After having so many ultrasounds with my boys, I feel like if I ever had a singleton ultrasounds would be weird. "Where's the other baby? Why are there only two arms and one heartbeat??" To me, one baby seems like half a pregnancy and twins are a full pregnancy! Weird!

If you have trouble with the "Happy Twins" sleep book, try Dr Weissbluth's other book "Happy Child". I read the reviews on Amazon, and a lot of people said there was better advice inthe "Happy Child" book. I never read the twins one but I had great success with his "Happy Child" book.

I also had the same feelings when I read Mothering Multiples. I also found they lean more AP and that's just not my style. Lots of people like it but I wound up giving my copy to a friend of a friend who is pregnant with twins.

That's good to know about the Happy Twins book. We're not having too many problems with sleep (knock on wood) - more trouble with daytime naps than night time sleep - but with twins those naps are so important to maintaining your sanity!

ETA - My issue with the BF book was that I turned to it as a resource when I was having issues BF and it came across to me as having the attitude of 'BF twins is easy, you shouldn't have any problems doing it and if you do there's something wrong with you as a mother' without really offering much in the way of help for someone struggling with latching and supply. :/ Not what I needed to hear/read at that moment of my life as a new mother.

Same here Meg. I read it when my girls were in the NICU and my milk just wasn't coming in despite pumping every 2-3 hours round the clock. And I couldn't actually nurse them more often because they were in the hospital. The book kind of made me feel like I was doing something wrong and that I should still be able to provide BM to babies in the NICU. It didn't help that I was already sensitive to the fact that I had very little supply. It focused more on the latching problems preemies tend to have. And mine didn't have those. They both latched like pros and nursed very well, I just didn't have enough. I guess I wouldn't have had such a negative reation to the book if I wasn't struggling.
