Happy Halloween from Gwen & Avery

Postby mritnire » Thu Oct 31, 2013 7:50 pm

Busy day of running around to the grandparents (and great-grandparents) Gwen was a Pirate Princess, and Avery a Butterfly Fairy. Big brother Rhys was the Incredible Hulk

Hope you all had a wonderful Halloween, next up is DH's 30th birthday followed by my bday (yay something I don't need to plan) the girls 2nd birthday, and Christmas.

Hi Ladies! Happy Halloween to your lil precious ones! I'm so sorry to drop in on your thread like this, but I was hoping either of you might be able to weigh in on something seeing as you have healthy twins of your own! I'm about 16 weeks pregnant and I had my 16 week obgyn appt this past Tuesday and at the visit the doctor measured their heartbeats which were 161 and 137. She did not measure their size or anything else. I am somewhat depressed about their heartbeats because they have always been pretty high and within 5 beats of one another (forgot to mention they are identical). This is the first time they have been so vastly different and I'm thinking the worst at this point - twin to twin transfusion, etc. I see my specialist next week so I know he will be looking a bit more thoroughly but I'm just so nervous. Any info you have or would be willing to share would be greatly appreciated. Thank you ladies!! Have fun with your lil ones :)

Oh my gosh!!!! SO CUTE! I love the pic of Gwen with her thumb in her mouth. So grown up in the cute pirate costume, but still sucking her thumb :) And I love the nanny's hat!

And I can't believe our kids are about to be 2! My boys were born right around your girls and it feels like we were all JUST in the NICU.

My dudes were a Stormtrooper and the TARDIS (from Doctor Who). Gotta get mom and dad's nerdy obsessions in before they are able to say what they want to be for Halloween!

I know! I can't believe that they are all but 2!!!! And I love the Stormtrooper and the TARDIS, we are big nerds/geeks here. DH's 30th is the day before Doctor Who's 50th anniversary so its a theme birthday and he is getting a life size TARDIS standee from me. We go to conventions and everything...

DH & Rhys at the convention this year

And October to the new year is crazy for us, out of the 5 of us only Rhys isn't born during that time and all but one grandparent's birthdays is during that time too. I remember saying to my bff when I got my BFP on the girls that I was glad that they were no chance that they could add to the year end craziness... thanks Gwen & Avery for coming early and proving me wrong.

I actually dropped by your blog recently and noticed its no longer public and was a bit sad because our preemies were born almost at the same time and it was nice to see them do so well. How are the boys?

Oh the blog, I haven't updated it since May so I just made it password protected for the old entries (although I didn't get back to their birth with doing that yet so those first entries still are open).

The boys are GREAT. A handful, just like your girls I'm sure, but doing great. Physically I think they're all caught up and normal, running, climbing, learning to jump. Their speech is a bit delayed, but they were preemies, they're boys and they're multiples so it's pretty much to be expected that they'd be on the later side of normal with that. Emmett is really taking off word-wise recently and Beckett is really shy about it but he's also getting new words. B was also more advanced with his physical milestones so I think that's why he's a little behind on the speech. Their speech therapist said they were communicating just fine and because they're making progress they aren't doing speech therapy anymore. They're pretty damn skinny still, no matter how much they eat, but I was always a real skinny kid (and adult) so that could be partly genetics. I'm hoping at their 2 year pedi appointment they'll both be ON the unadjusted chart. Beckett was at 5th percentile at 18 months but Emmett wasn't on it yet! All in all though, really doing well!

And that is super awesome about your husband's birthday and party. I love the pic of him and Rhys!

Sorry for not responding earlier, I don't think that you need to worry. Even though mine are not identical, they often were the same heartbeat wise and then would be drastically different. Your specialist will know for sure, but I know that while on bedrest they had to use the ultrasound machine to get the girls heartbeats because of how active they were that they might think they had the baby but it could have been the cord so to insure that they got the baby (and that they didn't get the same baby twice) I'm not very informed with twin to twin except for the two families I met in the NICU. Hope you get some reassurance.
