Stuff I'm noticing at 28wks...normal?

Hi all-
Can't believe it's already 28wks for us. I posted previously about lack of appts w/ the Dr and everyone's feedback was great. Ends up we went at 24wks for U/S and Dr visit. Nothing until 28wks (Appt is this coming Tues). U/S and Dr visit again at 28wks. Then just a Dr visit at 30wks. And an U/S and Dr visit at 32wks. Hopefully from there it goes to every 2wks or even weekly.
Anyway - at 24wks my white blood cell count was slightly elevated (Dr didn't seem concerned), and my iron markers were low (not sure how low - will find out this week). They just said to start on an iron supp, which i have. I'm sure this has happened to others. Seems like both are more common with twins?

I noticed that as SOON as I entered the 3rd Tri, my fatigue was off the charts. 10X worse than during the 1st Tri. Anyone else have that happen? It's like by the time I get out of bed, have breakfast, shower...I need to go back to bed. I'm sooooo tired! I'm wondering if I should put myself on 'house rest' and just lay on the couch w/ my feet up as much as possible.
I also noticed that my food aversions and nausea came back around wk 27. Not as bad as 1st Tri, but I'm definitely choking food down to get calories in.
I'm afraid I'm not eating enough, despite how hard I try to snack every few hours. Guess I'll find out Tues if the little ones are still growing on track! Fingers crossed!

Just wanted to get others opinions on this stuff to make sure there's nothing I'm missing. Thanks!

Congrats on making it to 28 weeks! As for appointments go, I started having bi-weekly NSTs at 32 weeks and bi-weekly MFM visits on weeks I didn't have NSTs.(Of course that didn't last since I delivered at 33 weeks but I digress). I'm not sure about iron levels - I'm sure it's common for them to be low with twins but I never had issues with mine.

I felt like I hit a wall at 28 weeks. I remember reading in a pregnant with twins book the author recommended stopping work at 28 weeks and it felt so soon, but something changed when I hit that mark and things started getting so much harder. Rest as much as possible. During that time, it was taking me longer and longer just to get up and get to work in the morning. And then I started leaving earlier and earlier in the afternoons and I'd go home and take naps. I probably should have stopped working then but I was stubborn and hung in till 32 weeks when I really had enough. Unfortunately that's also when I developed pre-e and mine progressed pretty quickly and I ended up delivering at 33 weeks exactly.

For your eating, just try to eat when you're hungry and eat what you can. The babies will get their nutrition first. Try to eat lots of protein-rich foods. And good luck!

We had our 28wk appt today - and the babies are measuring right on track. They were like 2lbs,11oz and 2lbs,14oz. I've gained 22lbs so far, and the Dr seems fine with that. So I'll keep doing what I'm doing!
She said I see her at 30wks for BP and urine sample - no U/S at that appt.
Next U/S is 32wks. She said weekly U/Ss don't start until 35wks, which seems late to me.
But I guess as long as everything looks 'normal' maybe that's fine.
She still hasn't said a thing about the NSTs.

It's hard to just trust the experts, when we've been through so much to get here! But I'll just try to take it easy as much as possible- I coach fitness classes and can sit most of the time. And most days I only actually coach for 3hrs. So I have a lot of time to sit on the couch w/ my feet up actually.

Those are great weights at 28 weeks!!! Mine were BORN at 29 weeks and only 2lb even each (growth restricted obvs)! So that is awesome. Congrats.

Wow, I'm jealous of your 22lb weight gain! I delivered at 33 weeks and I gained 60lbs with less than 8lbs of actual baby.

I guess some doctors are just more aggressive than others with monitoring. Hopefully everything continues to go well! Just make sure and listen to your body and rest when you need to!

Thanks ladies!
I actually feel like I should be gaining more weight - but I've just had such food aversions the whole time (massive nausea through week 16, and it comes and goes now in the 3rd Tri again). So I eat when I can, as much as I can. But no cravings!
It's weird - you just don't know what to expect until you're in the situation. I always figured I'd have all kinds of cravings.
But as long as the babies weights seem fine, I won't stress it.
I've definitely been taking it easier after hitting a wall around wk 27. The fatigue is crushing. Sometimes it's hard to hold my arms up to do my hair. Some days I take 2 naps! (today) haha

Yay Ready I'm so happy to hear things are going so well! I can't believe you're still coaching your fitness classes! You are one tough mama!

Hopefully your LO's stay in a bake a while longer! I'll be stalking. :wink:

And yeah, I'm still coaching, but it's more like 'directing' from a seated position. haha
