Both measuring the same, big difference in hbs?

Postby Tiffne » Thu Nov 06, 2014 1:29 pm

I think I just need to hear this has happened before and both babies made it. I've tried googling but I can't find anything that is close to what is up with my babies. Ultrasound was today at 7w2d. They both measured 7w2d but baby A's heartbeat is 99 and baby B's heartbeat is 149. If they are measuring the same, should their hb be close to each other? It seems like such a huge difference. Going back in two weeks to make sure Baby A has progressed. Any insight?

I don't have much insight on twins but I know in my pregnancies the hb's can vary depending on activity. Maybe baby A was in a more rested state at the time of the ultrasound? Good luck with everything.

I wonder if they were picking you up instead of the other baby. Is that possible?

I'm not sure if it's possible. It was a transvaginal ultrasound and they had me hold my breath.

I like the thought that maybe baby A was more at rest but it seems it's still a huge difference. This is going to be a long TWW.

Sorry hun i can't help with this one they refused to measure heartbeats rates at any of my scans - my doppler picked up at 13 weeks and were 150 and 156 - that was the first time i got any idea of heart rates x

I do agree though that the resting rate will be much less than an active one x

I just wanted to add that when my baby girl is resting her hb gets around 135 when she is having a dance party it's up around 156. Do big differences are extremely possible. My in didn't start telling me hb until around 15 weeks from memory,
I agree you are going to have a long couple of weeks sheaf of you. It's hard not to worry. Keep us posted!

Mine were always within a beat or two of each other, but if you are worried call and ask the doctor what he thinks. He or she might be able to put your mind at ease for the next two weeks. No need to worry unless there is a reason :)

I spoke to the doctor after the u/s. He didn't seem too concerned But said to come back in two weeks to check on its progression. He said by then he would be able to tell for sure (about 95%) if baby A would survive. I guess I'm just worried bcus there is such a big difference and he couldn't tell me then if it would make it. Im trying my best not to stress but def easier said that done. Will keep you all posted with what happens at my appt. KMFX

One thing to keep in mind is that if they are fraternal, they are no more alike than any two full siblings. So if your heartbeat at 8 weeks gestation was 150, but your brother five years later was 100 at that gestation, no one would be comparing. Lots of things can be very different for fraternal twins and we only compare because they're at the same age/stage. Good luck!!!!

How are you holding up Tiffne? :hb: I know the waiting sucks. I have my next appointment next Friday (21st) which will be a month since I last saw my beans, which was during my bleed.
The wait is driving me crazy. I have no advice on the heart rates, but I can totally commiserate on the waiting. When is your appointment?

My appt is Thursday, the 20th. One more week! Doing pretty okay as far as stress levels but I know once it gets a lil closer, it'll really get to me. I cried for two days straight before my last u/s lol. Just going to keep telling myself, whatever happens, happened for a reason. Wishing they would of set my appt for today tho, not sure why they're making me wait two whole weeks?!
And you have to wait a whole month?! I would go crazy! I thought you have u/s every two weeks with twins? Or is this just in the beginning? Hoping your beans are doing great in there!

I had an U/S at 9 weeks only because i was under the FS - another at 12 weeks, the next not ti 20 weeks and now i have them every 4 weeks to make sure growth is not slowing down. I think The USA is a little different and you may get them more regular but i've not seen anyone with them every 2 weeks unless there is a problem that needs checking on x

What's FS? I'm not sure how often I will be getting them, I just figured its was going to be every two weeks bcus that's how it's been so far. Think I'll ask the doctor how often I'll be getting them.

Oh man, 23 weeks! Your getting close tho! My doc said sometime between 18-20 weeks but I may go in for an early gender scan depending the cost. I want to find out now lol.
