anyone w/ Vaginal delivery when Baby B is NONVERTEX??

Postby momma34 » Wed Nov 19, 2014 2:50 pm

Hey ladies who have given birth - Just wondering if any of you had a vaginal delivery when the second twin was breech or transverse? I really really want a vaginal delivery if possible but baby B is nonvertex. I was just hoping to hear about experiences from you ladies who have been through it!

I'm in that group too, it's a great group although some can be a little too Au natural and question your choices sometimes.

I know i haven't delivered yet obviously but i am allowed a natural deliver as long as A is head down - they are not fussed by the position of the other as they can manually turn B should they need to if transverse and will delive breech no problem - hope your provider will do the same :) x

I had an emergency section, but one doctor and my OB practice was willing to do vaginal if baby A was vertex. If B was breech, he would have allowed him to come breech, try to turn him or whatever. The other doctors in the practice required both to be vertex to go for vaginal.

I am posting here mostly because when I was in this situation I was trolling everywhere to find as much information as I could (and there really wasnt much out there)! My Baby B was nonvertex all the way up until my 36week ultrasound. I was induced at 38 weeks and 1 day. At my 37 week doctor's appointment they told me that there was pretty much no chance in the baby switching to head down and to prepare for the possibility that baby B would need to be delivered via C section (I was still planning on delivering baby A vaginally with hopes that baby B would turn head down after baby A came out). I came into my induction with a heavy heart because I wanted to avoid a Csection at all costs and also was hopeful to try and avoid an epidural. They did an ultrasound as soon as I got there before the induction started, and low and behold, baby B had FLIPPED TO VERTEX!!!! Shockingly at that time they were BOTH head down and so I was able to labor without an epidural and I ended up successfully doing a natural vaginal delivery (even though I did have to have pitocin for the induction). So, if you are someone like me who is interested in trying naturally with twins, it can be done:) - EVEN if Baby B (or probably Baby A) is not vertex... always have them rescan you before making a final decision for c section/vaginal.

My baby B was breech. After A was delivered my OB internally flipped him and he was born sunny side up.

that's what I was assuming would happen for me, but was so worried that he might not flip even after she came out! but in the end i dind't have to worry cuz he flipped on his own before things even got going. Im so glad it worked out for you!! my OBs are not comfortable with breech delivery so if he had not flipped they would not have tried a breech extraction. i know some OBs will. congrats on your second set of twins! how wonderful:) - i am still trying to get used to two babies at once, but i'm guessing you probably are an ol pro at this! i am trying to breastfeed, so hopefully i will at least be able to last for 1 year, that is how long i breastfed my son. I do hate pumping though!

My OB was comfortable with a breech delivery. We have a very good relationship so we talked about it a lot.

I bf my first set of twins until 16 months and we are 13 months with this duo. No signs of stopping. It gets easier!
