Postby Tiffne » Fri Jan 09, 2015 2:01 pm

Did anyone else get sent to a high risk doctor because your having twins? I'm waiting for a call from them to set an appt for next week and curious what all the appt will Intel.

I think its pretty standard to be under consultant care/high risk dr because you and babies are at higher risk of complications than a singleton pregnancy x

I was put on aspirin to thin the blood due to my age as higher risk of dvt I was also given extra calcium and vit D supplements x

Thanks for your response. What all do they do at the first appt? Ultrasounds and such? How often did you see them?

Yup! Saw my OB and an MFM (maternal fetal medicine specialist). OB all the normal appointments, MFM I saw at 24w, 28w, and would have been every 2 weeks from then on but all hell broke loose at my 28 week appointment and I had 29 weekers. It was actually the MFM doc who decided when it was time to have the babies, and my OB did my section.

My MFM appointments were ultrasounds/growth scans and NSTs.

I saw an OB till 25 weeks then saw her and a perinatal specialist both. Every 2 weeks saw either one. With twins you will have tons more appointments and you will get tons of pics :) maybe some videos of your lucky. I had the best doctors they always hooked me up with tons of pics and videos since my husband was deployed so I could send to him. Good luck with your pregnancy

The appt was great. The people are very nice and the babies are doing great too. And they told us what were having!

Thank you! They did mention one thing tho. He said the boys umbilical cord is attached to the rim of the placenta rather than the middle like normal. He didn't seem too concerned so I didn't say much but now that I've had time to think about it, I'm worrying myself..

I had never heard of that Tiffne and looked it up, but from what I am reading it doesn't seem to pose a threat. Good luck honey, and try not to worry <3

Thanks, I looked just looked it up too. Could be two different things but seeing the doctor didn't seem worried, Its prolly the lesser of the two. Perhaps I shouldn't worry either.
