Testing done on baby after a D&C

Postby luvmytwins02 » Sun Oct 18, 2009 3:31 pm

I have my D&C set up for tomorrow. I was 8 weeks 3 days when I found out there was no heartbeat. (I had previously seen the heartbeat on other ultrasounds). The doctor mentioned doing chromosome testing on the baby after the D&C. Does anyone know if they can find out if it was a boy or girl?

Firstly I am so sorry for your loss. It is so difficult to be mother to an angel.

I don't know if they tell you routinely - but if they are doing chromosome testing, they will definitely look at the sexual karotype to make sure there are the right numbers of X&Ys - just make sure you tell them you would like to know.
