Could this be a vital pg??

Postby mickel05 » Fri Dec 04, 2009 1:55 pm

Hi everyone,
I am so confused and hope you can help. I have had a history of m/c and gave birth seven months ago to DD via IVF with donor eggs. I am currently 6w2d pg naturally at age 40 but didn't have great news at the REs today for my first u/s. He saw a sac but no baby and said we'd wait a week to 10 days to recheck. But he said the sac was irregular shaped which would indicate a m/c. They also checked my beta, prog and estrog.

I just got a call from the nurse who said my numbers from 23dpo (4067) had gone down to 3033 (30dpo). At this point she said they didn't feel an additional u/s was necessary and that I should stop taking the progesterone supplements. They will retest my betas next week to see how the m/c is going.

I keep reading about misdiagnosed m/c's due to supposed blighted I am wondering, is this a vital pg??? Is it even possible to have a vital pg when hCG numbers go down? I swear I had morning sickness just today and have been fatigued...

Boy do I wish I could go back to the innocence I had when I thought I just needed a positive HPT to have a baby! Thanks for all your thoughts on this. Hope everyone on this board gets much deserved BFPs that stick!

Me-41, DH-37, DD-1.5 with baby #2 due April 2011!!!

Congradulations on your DD :D I'm sorry you have to go through all this uncertainity. I have to say in my opinion when numbers go down it's an omnious sign. I'm sorry. I think it happens where based on a lmp that an ultrasound it can look like a pregnancy hasn't progressed normally due to a late O. But with numbers going down I havent heard of them being able to go back up? In my case my numbers were still going up 60% with tremendous lagged growth and only a 60bpm hr. Hugs to you going through all this. I'm so very sorry you do.

So sorry this is happening. I had my girls via IVF and recently got pregnant naturally and m/c at 12 weeks. To my understanding when the numbers drop it's a sign of m/c. Again I am soooo very sorry for this b/cuz I know how devastating it can be. I'm still mourning myself and up until today thought I could have been pregnant again.

Baby dust to you all...
