Prometrium/progesterone supplements prolong miscarriage?

Does Prometrium/progesterone supplements prolong and impending miscarriage? I am 5 wks 2 days and on Prometrium 100 mg 2 times per day. I have had three previous m/c's and am nervous.
TTC for 2 1/2 years
7 IUI's with Clomid/Femara
IVF cancelled 4/2009
Miscarriage 5 wks 6/2007
Miscarriage 11 wks 7/2009
Miscarriage 5 wks 11/2009
BFP 3/2010
DUE 12/04/10!!!!

my dr says they do....however they also can save a pregnancy that would fail due to low progesterone IMO. When I was having chemicals he gave me clomid and our daughter was born healthy....

I would say that progesterone most definitely can prolong a miscarriage, and it's not going to save an already failing pregnancy. It can definitely help a healthy pregnancy where lower progesterone levels occur. I had to stop my progesterone when I had a blighted ovum to help get the ball rolling. I understand your nervousness, I'm also on progesterone again after a loss, and so far, so good! I hope you also have a positive outcome! :hugs:
