baby aspirin and b6...should i keep taking them?

Postby savigny » Tue Apr 13, 2010 3:48 pm

hi girls
just wondered if anyone knows if it is ok to keep taking baby aspirin and b6 after getting your BFP...and if so for how long? I just got my BFP today at 12dpo, and am nervous about stopping too early cause have had 2 m/c...and this is my first cycle after the 2nd m/c!

i will call my dr tomorrow but you girls are such a great resource...
TIA!

well since no one responded thought i'd just put here what my Dr said.
I can continue the baby aspirin and b6--up to 300mg/day for m/s.

and i was taking extra folic acid which they said i didn't need to continue cause there is no history in my family of a neural tube defect. the folic acid in the prenatal is enough.

hope this is useful to someone!

That is really useful, I posted a question about B6 on the TTC forum a while back so I think a lot of people will probably want to know this. Thanks for posting!

You can continue it up to 37 weeks as far as I know. I'm still taking 81mg daily. I started it 3 months prior to TTC and will continue it until I deliver.(I'm delivering between 35 and 36 weeks)

I'm taking B6 and plan to continue at least until the second trimester, since I did read that stopping too soon can cause problems. I was taking Vit. C but finally stopped this week because it was making me very nauseous.

I just saw this. I would def. continue the baby asprin since that actually helps some women not MC if they have clotting issues not detected..... I took B6 & stopped taking mine at about 6 weeks was it? I think it was. It might have been 8 weeks. It was 1 or the other :D Congrats on your BFP!!! Whoo Hoo!

I'm not sure what my dr. would say. But I was dx with MTHFR one copy of c677t. I researched and found that even with one copy there could be some problems with absorption of folic acid. I started taking B12 1000 mcg, B6 50 mg, Folic acid 2400 mcg, and baby aspirin, at the beginning of this cycle. I have to say that they have made me feel a whole lot better, so I guess I needed them. I got my BFP and am due in Feb. '11. I am planning on continuing this until at least my 2nd trimester. I had a loss at 12w5d (baby measured 9w1d) and a chemical in March. So I guess I'm not going to take any chances, unless the dr. can convince me it's o.k.

Thanks for starting this post, after reading this I started to research about B6. I was taking 100mg of B6 and then got my BFP on Friday. I stopped taking B6 on Sunday and Monday, then read your post and resumed taking it today (Tuesday). But now I'm freaking out that I messed up my progesterone levels and miscarrying.
