Real BFP or leftover hormones?

Postby danni_stone » Sat May 21, 2011 12:43 pm

Hi ladies,

A little over a month ago I had a D&C at about 7 or 8 weeks (wasn't sure when I Oed). Last monday I went in for a routine blood test so the doc would ok me to start provera to bring on AF (I guess I was in a range that was okay to start taking it?). Well, I was spotting so I thought "hey maybe it'll start on its own!" and I wound up not getting the provera all week... but then I noticed that I started to feel a familar fatigue and it seemed like I was peeing more frequently, nauseous and today I even have a headache (which is pretty rare for me).

On a whim yesterday I bought a FRER and used it when I got home... BFP! I was really shocked, I mean it popped up almost immediately and it was a little faint but no squinting required or anything. I thought maybe it was a false positive. So I took the other test this morning. Almost immediately it appeared again, albeit still a bit faint.

Then I started thinking, could it be that my betas just aren't normal yet? I lost all my symptoms well over a month ago, even before my D&C. But maybe the 20 or so I must have in my system are just still hanging out? I'm just really unsure, I don't know what to feel, excited or not.

Have any of you ladies experienced this? DH and I weren't even trying, we had sex ONCE about two weeks ago. If this is a new pregnancy, it's a miracle. I mean the odds I think would be really stacked against us in this situation. I called my doc's office today and a nurse asked me to come in for another blood test tomorrow morning. So thankfully, I'll know (hopefully) one way or the other tomorrow. I guess if my betas are higher than last week? I wish I'd take a HPT way earlier so I wouldn't be sitting here wondering...

Anyways, thank you so much for taking the time to read this, as well if you reply!

Take care now!

Hi Danni!

I imagine it is most likely that your betas will have dropped to normal in over a month. I can tell you that when I miscarried my beta was 3900, and the day after I miscarried it was 450. A month later I took an hpt and was negative. I think the best way to be sure is to take your beta levels a couple of times a few days apart to make sure they're rising...

GL!!! :luck: :luck: :luck:

I agree with above I would guess your beta would have already reached 0 and this is a new pregnancy! I know with DS we were not trying because I had an appointment with a Fertility Specialist, (due to 3 miscarriages in 4 months,) just like you DTD maybe once that cycle and I was pregnant 2 weeks later. Hoping that it all turns out for you as well.
