Blood Test Today

Postby mrsm44 » Wed Oct 29, 2014 8:28 pm

I had one of those newer NIPT tests today, through my OB's office. This test includes Trisomy 13, which is what our boy had. On one hand, I am relieved and happy that I finally got to submit my blood for the test. On the other, I am trying not to flip out, and worry. It cost $150 out of pocket, but that's much better than the lab wanted; $1,200. I am trying to look toward the positive, and think about how exciting it is that I will know the baby's gender from this test. But then it turns to "yea, I'll know if it's a boy or girl that I will lose this time". I know that's somewhat irrational, but those of you who have gone through it, I am sure that you can identify. Has anyone had this done, and if so, how long did it take you to get your results?

I am so sorry for your loss!!!! 21 weeks? I have had 7 losses but all before 13 weeks and it is never easy. I have always wondered if the babies were girl or boy just so I could have a peace of mind and know something about them. I don't know how long the test takes but interested to find out more about it from my doctor and didn't want to read and run. I wish you the best of luck!!!

Fx for you mrsm. I bet baby is doing great. I can understand why you are worried but it will be exciting to know if you are team blue or pink!

I also can't imagine 7. 3 was hard enough. 1 is more than enough for anyone.
