So strange being on this side of the boards

Postby marisajl » Wed Apr 22, 2015 8:55 am

I've been on the other side for almost a year and TTC for almost 2 years. Just got my very first BFP.
But I'm sooooo nervous. I've waited so long for this that I don't feel like I'll be able to keep this baby. It's taking all I can do to just try and feel excited and not worry. Please tell me this passes, and doesn't necessarily mean something is wrong. I'm ready to be excited!
Very first bfp ever 4/21/2015!!

Congrats Marisa! Welcome hun! Even though my ttc journey was not as long as yours, I can tell you the feeling you have is totally normal, and I think the majority of us have been or stil are in your shoes. The thought of it finally happening, and the odds of MC are always so high specially in the first early weeks. The best thing to do is to try to relax, and always always keep positive! It does pass, for some sooner than others. For me it was not until almost week 13 when we announced to our friends and family, and even then I was not fully relaxed until week 20 for our anatomy scan. For me early on it was truly unreal specially since stil to date did not have pregnancy symptoms.. until I started feeling baby move I felt as if it was really happening... It is a roller coaster, however its one worth being on. For the next months you will need to be mentally and emotionally prepared to deal with pregnancy, not just physically. Patience and alot of positive thinking! Good luck!

First, congrats to you all! I am feeling exactly like this as well. It doesn't quite feel real yet and I am terrified. It must be more common than we think. I don't know if it is because I want to protect myself in case something does go wrong or what. I'm guessing we will feel better once we can actually see our baby and he/she looks like a baby. That just seems so far away. I'm going to try and stay positive while I adjust to this.

Mantis and HoneyBunny, I think it's really cool you are team green :)

thanks ladies for being so awesome! i'm feeling a lot better the past couple days. i bought some onesies today that we are going to use to announce our pregnancy with our friends and family. we are waiting until mothers day to announce to our parents. ill only be going into my 7th week then but its so hard keeping it a secret from our families. then i think that we will announce to everyone else a couple of weeks later.

I'm also announcing mothers day. I will be 8 weeks. parents in law but sils don't. Been having cramps again today though. Cramping always makes me nervous. Husband doesn't want to be team green anymore so not sure what to do. Have time to think that through though

Mantis, I wanted to be team green but DF is set against it. He would find out now if he could, lol. Maybe you can get your DH to come around. :)

Marisa, awww, what a great day to announce!

Marisa congratulations! DH and I were ttc for 1 year and I can relate to your anxiety and fear of getting my hopes up. For me the first few weeks were really hard and I was def more anxious than excited. After seeing the heartbeat on the u/s at 7 weeks my anxiety decreased a bit. Then after my 12 week u/s last week and finally announcing it to friends and the rest of the family my anxiety has decreased even more. I still have fears and concerns that come and go, but it def gets easier as time goes by. What helped me was finding a hobby to invest my energy instead of googling all of my symptoms and hearing horror stories. I actually started a puzzle and that helped a bit. My next anticipation is feeling the baby kick so I have that constant reassurance, but that won't be for a while.

My beautiful baby girl born October 2015.
