About why each of us had our c-sections. If you've had repeated c-sections, answer the poll for your first and then post about the others. Feel free to elaborate on any answer. I tried to all of the possibilities I could think of.

I was induced for pre-eclampsia at 37 weeks, labored for 35 hours, then taken for c-section. Turns out his head was too big to fit. Second, I had a repeat c-section, easy peasy. This time, I'll have another repeat. After 2 kids with heads in the 100th percentile, I'l not chancing it!

I had a csec with DD2 because of her medical condition and the unlikely chnace of her making it through a vaginal delivery.

I was induced with DS2 at 39 weeks, I labored for a long time (I lost time since I didn't have any pain meds most of it), then my cervix got stuck at 8. Without any pain meds, my doc tried to use his hands to pull my cervix open further, this only succeded in getting me to 9 1/2 cm and tearing it some. Then DS2's heartrate went well over 200 bpm and they sent me in for my miserable emergency c-section. Apparently it was a combination that he was too big (8lb11oz and I'm 5'3") and he just wasn't ready to come out. He refused to come down and engage so my cervix stalled and the doctor gave me some lovely scar tissue on my cervix.

My DD was a repeat c-section. The doctor gave me until 38 weeks to go into labor for a vbac or to just show up to the hospital for my scheduled csection b/c of the size of her. I never went into labor and this csection went lovely, she was born weighing 8lb 10oz. ... she probably wouldn't have fit.

I planned a homebirth with DD. I had a very long and slow progressing labor. After the third day, I stalled at 8 cm for about 8 hours. I was very tired and my mw thought maybe a little pit would get me over the last 2 cm's. Even with pitocin for 3 hours, I never progressed past 8 cm's and my cervix started to swell with the pressure of her head so we decided on a c/s.

I was very sad about the c/s, but I knew that I did everything I could to have her naturally. Turns out she was posterior and 8.6 pounds (I'm 5'2, 120 ppreg). I am very hopeful for a positive vbac experience this time. Hopefully this baby will stay anterior and make it easier on me :)

i went into labor on my own with DS, labored for 22 hours, made it all the way to 10 and then pushed for 2 more hours. at which point i started having blood pressure issues, i had a temp of almost 103 and had done NOTHING but gotten him Good and stuck in my pelvic bone. It actually took 2 docotors to perform the emergency c section, 1 to unstick and 1 to extract.

Since they're not positive if it was due to DS position (he was sideways) or just that fact that my pelvic bone is too small - i'm going with an scheduled section for DD.

I had a scheduled Csection because DD was breach, she never turned head down because DS was crowding her in the bottom of my uterus.

I was induced because of a single umbilical artery (39.2 weeks). I labored for a while and got to 4cm, but then Addison's HR started dropping, and it got as low as 40bpm before I was rushed to emergency c-section. Her cord was 2x as long as a normal umbilical cord, so I dont know if it was cord problems or pitocin-induction problems ??? Either way, she recovered quickly and I went on to have a successful VBAC for Grace.

I had a vaginal birth with DD - but ended up with a 3rd-4th degree tear and massive internal tearing right up to my cervix due to her position. I had to go to surgery when she was a few hours old to be stitched up, and ended up with more sutures in my vagina that someone who had a c-section :( My recovery was horrible to say the least. I was re-sutured 2 times due to burst stitches, and these didn't hold either. My recovery was very very long, and very aweful. It took months before I could even sit without a pillow :( After a lot of discussions with a few Ob's and my M/W, and after research of my own I made the decision to have a c-section this time. It was one of the hardest decisions of my life. But ultimately one of the best for me and Ollie. My recovery has been a breeze compared to last time, and although it is major surgery which in turn has it's own risks and complications - it has been far far easier than my delivery with DD. And that in itself breaks my heart, it should not be that way AT ALL :(

I had a csection because of the possible distress to the twins that I just wasn't risking (particularly DD who was small). I had a great experience and my twins did wonderful :D

I was induced starting on a Sunday night and at that point I was 2cm dilated. On Monday morning I was still 2cm. By noon I was 4cm and by 8pm I was only 6cm and they had broken my water at noon and my (old)OB refused to let a woman go longer than 8 hours with her water broke and no baby in sight....so I was wheeled off to the ER and DS was born at 8:46PM.

Was all set and getting psyched up for a VB, but found out at 38 weeks (only b/c of a last minute u/s to check weight) that DD was breech. We were going to go for an external version, but after a post on TWW Preg boards, and reading feedback that it didn't work for most people (plus my doc admittedly only had a 25% success rate with it) I decided to have a c/s. Went smoothly and recovery was not too bad. I anticipate a RCS with baby #2 and hope it goes similarly.

I had two vaginal births before my first and hopefully only c-section.... The reason why I had a c-section was because I was 28 1/2 weeks along, my baby was sideways, my membranes ruptured, and there was no fluid for the baby.... Delivered emergency c-section after an emergency helicopter flight 100 miles to the best NICU unit they had and the closest...

I had my first c-section for non medical reasons. My 2nd c/s was because I was not informed enough about vbac at the time and also didn't feel comfortable about traveling over an hour away to a different hospital because the hospital closest to me bans vbac.

DD1 was a c/s by my choice. I have a curved tailbone and my mom had HORRIBLE labors with both my brother and myself. It was just a gut feeling that I had, to avoid a vag delivery. She was born at 39 weeks and she had a knot in her umbilical cord, so it turned out to be a really good thing that I didn't deliver vaginally.
With the twins, I was scheduled for a c/s at 38 weeks but delivered at 36 and 2 due to pre-e. Emily (baby b) had an undiagnosed growth in her umbilical cord as well as other cord problems and she would not have survived a vaginal delivery. She is perfectly healthy today.
That being said, I support all mamas and the choices they make in regards to their own health and that of their babies.
