I was in to be induced at 41w3d, after being hooked up to pit all day with no progression past 1-2cm my doc broke my water and discovered that DD was Breech. I was set up for a c-section pretty quickly after that.

I was in labor for over 52 hours, my contractions started and my water started leaking on a Saturday morning, she was born on Monday morning. I pushed for almost 3 hours, I had a fever from my water being broken so long and my pre-eclampsia was getting worse, so c-section it was... :?

ETA she was also posterior and had a HUGE head, so that didnt help anything.

I voted other

my csection was scheduled by my doctor because at 36 weeks DS #1 was measuring over 10lb. He was born at 38w3d weighing 10lb 11oz. I was terrified of losing him because we had lost our daughter previously and just couldn't go through that again. In hindsight I know I could have delivered him vaginally, but I am grateful that I didn't take the risk. I have since delivered Twins and a singleton by successful VBAC.

With DD#1 i was induced at only 4 days past due date. 10 1/2 hrs of labor, with 2 1/2 of that pushing, she was facing sideways so it took a kiwi to help get her out(leaving me with a decent tear too). Recovery wasnt so bad even with the tear. She was 7lbs 13oz
DD#2 tried to come at 36wk and 3 days, when i made it to the hospital they checked me and i was only 1cm and the nurse couldnt tell if it was her head or butt down there..so the u/s tech came in, and sure enough she was breech. Sent me home to put frozen peas on my stomach and lift my but as high as could to get her to flip. Three days later i went back into labor and after 3 hrs i was 3cm and it was obvious she was coming. She was still breech so within thirty mins i was prepped and in the OR.
This time i'm going for a VBAC. I hated the recover of a c/s. it was horrible for me.
Good luck to everyone!

I put other, because I didn't really have a choice on whether or not to have a section. I had a complete placenta previa, so there was NO option that would allow my child and me to live other than a c-section. I wouldn't say it was a choice as much as medical necessity.

I was induced due to GD and hypertension...Went in at 7am on a Thursday morning...they broke my water at 2pm...made it to 10cm Fri morning at 7am..pushed for 3 1/2 hours...then the doc came in and realized she was sunny side up and every time I pushed I got her down to almost crowning and with each contraction she'd go right back up...and she was having heart decels....sooooo then I had to have a csection

I apparently had answered this poll at some point but never posted an actual response...weird

I went into labor on my own and after more than 24 hours of labor was rushed to emergency c/s due to fetal distress. His heart rate was decelerating w/contractions and not recovering. It was going as low as 40bpm. It ended up being due to cord prolapse.

I was induced at 40w1d due to suppossed high blood pressure (or so my OB thought.) I still disagree to this day that I had high BP but that is another issue.

My water broke on its own with Cervidil and I labored for about 4 hours and I got my Epi. Then after another 8 hours and then they started Pitocin after my contractions slowed (I was fully dialated.) My nurse turned my Epi off in the middle of pushing without asking me so I could feel the contractions and that was supposed to "make me mean enough to push the baby out." I couldn't handle going from 3cm and contractions I could breathe through to fully dialated and pushing through Pitocin contractions. After another 2 hours of pushing and the pushing doing nothing I begged for a section.

The section was definately my choice at that point and not required by my doctor but mainly because I didn't prepare myself adequately for the birth process- and I didn't speak up when I disagreed with something.

During my pregnancy w/ DS I knew there was a good chance I would have a c-section due to complete placenta previa. The doctor thought it was starting to move a couple weeks before my scheduled c-section, but then at 36w 5d I lost my mucus plug and a few hours later started bleeding a lot, so I went to L&D and had an emergency c-section that day.

I had my DD vaginally after being induced for high blood pressure. So my DS was not a repeat c-section.

I was diagnosed with complete placenta previa around 20 weeks, so I was on pelvic rest and was scheduled for a c-section very early on. However, when I was 37 weeks 3 days I had a small bleed and went into the hospital for monitoring. I ended up having an emergency c-section that day because I was contracting and that is a big no-no with a previa. The doctor told me afterwards that the placenta was hanging on by a thread and I had just had a miracle baby. She couldn't believe I made it to as many weeks as I had without bleeding.
