I had an epi with DS1 as it was an emergency c-sec and I already had the epi in (no probs in surgery, just probs with it not working properly during labour). With DS2 & DD I had a spinal. With DS2 I was very, very sick and the Dr said he thinks it was a reaction the the drugs & morphine, as well as a sensitivity to spinals - no breathing probs though. With DD I had different drugs and I was no where near as sick, but the spinal still made my BP plummet so I was sick a few times after they put it in (and a couple of times in recovery - but better an hour later - unlike with DS2). BUT the spinal numbness did go up to my throat and I felt like someone was sitting on my chest, but the anaethetist corrected it very quickly & I felt better a few mins later. Good luck! Hope all goes well!

Thanks for the stories everyone! I'm getting closer and it just seems like it is different for every person. I'll let you know how it goes after sept 28 :)

I had an Epi because we tried having her vaginally. I pushed for about 2.5 hours and she wasn't budging so we had a c-section. Then they just upped my meds through the epi. I don't really know that much about spinal blocks (thanks Cacton for explaining the difference!) I'll have to ask my doc if this is an option for baby #2. Although I was totally fine with the epidural, so maybe I should just go that route again? Not sure what they offer at my hospital for scheduled c-sections :)

I totally agree that spinal was easy. I had a c/s and once the spinal was in, I had no issues at all. Really weird not being able to wiggle my toes though.
