vbac not an option

Postby Tuckersmom » Mon Jul 04, 2011 12:34 pm

Since There is not enough time in between my pregnancies, my dr told me there is no chance for a vbac. Are there any other mamas that c section back to back?
I believe I will be scheduled at 39 weeks instead of 40...anyone have a similar experience?
DD Aug 29, 2010 - we have a one year old in the house!

I'm sorry that your doctor is not being receptive to your wishes for having a vbac. The figure that I have seen is 18 months between births, which it looks like you are right on the line. You might want to look around for a more supportive practitioner, perhaps a midwifery group that is backed up by an ob-gyn? Or if you want to keep the same doctor, you should do a little research and bring it to your doctor to support your situation as being within the guidelines for attempting a vbac.

If you decide to go forward with the repeat c-section, was your daughter born before or after her due date? If she was born after, then you should be able to play it by ear to see if you can wait until 40 weeks.

I would look around if that is what you truely want, I had a successful VBAC after just 15 months apart! I hope that you find someone that will support you!

I think I'd look around for a new doc or a midwife.

I have also heard that they have to be a certain amount of months apart. I have had 2 sections, but time in between wasn't an issue. The second I had placenta previa so they wouldn't let me try for a vbac. Now that I will be delivering 18 months apart I doubt they would let me go vbac after having 2 sections...I sort of feel like a failure.

I had 2 vbacs 18 months apart. I had to switch to a midwife but that was the best choice I ever made. I know I really had to fight for my Vbacs but it was all worth it.

Go to mothering.com and post in the VBAC section. You will find a ton of mother who have had VBACs as few as 12 months apart. Do your research, and do what you feel comfortable with. Switch doctors is you have to. I think you would be a perfect canidate for a VBAC...:). It is easier for your doctor to do a repeat section, then let you go on your own.

Given your doctor knows your health history, I would listen to him/her and go with the section. Good luck!

I will be giving birth 13 months after a section, they gave me the choice to do a vbac, but I think I am going to play it safe and go for another section

I'm too busy to calculate how many months apart your LO will be. How many mo apart will they be? I got pg when my LO was 10.5 mo. So they are 19.5 mo apart and I had a perfect VBAC.

Hey there - I also had FTP and spontaneous rupture of my water before my due date. I think the FTP happens when your water breaks, but your body isn't actually ripe and ready for labor. I had a successful VBAC on my second birth, exactly 18 months and 4 days after my c-section. You CAN do it - and if it's what you really want, I'd encourage you to look around! I'm so thankful I was able to VBAC.

Feel free to PM me for any more info! :) Best wishes!
