VBAC like "first labor"?

Postby quinna » Thu Nov 10, 2011 4:07 pm

I had a scheduled c/s with DS and never went into labor. I'm hopeful to try a VBAC this time around. I was just curious, since my body never experienced labor the first time, would this time be like a "first time" for me? What I mean is (this is very generalized, I know) first labors are usually longer, often after due date, etc. I know labor is different for everyone in general, but it seems that things are usually quicker the second time around, and I wondered if my first didn't count so to speak. Hope that made a little sense!

My guess is that because your cervix has never dilated, then yep, it will be like a first labor. Don't get all caught up in "probablies" though, my first labor went from 1cm to 8.5cm in five hours!

I agree that it is probably like a first labor. My VBAC labor was pretty drawn out. Pushing was 3 hours. So, yeah, I think that it can be a "longer" labor in general, but not necessarily. Depends on the person.
